"All of his fights he’s been winning convincingly. I think that he is the guy that deserves the chance to fight for the belt the most right now.  I was prepared to fight Rashad but unfortunately he got injured(...) I think each fighter is a different fighter with a different style of fighting.  Jon Jones is a very good striker.  He has a good Muay Thai and wrestling base, and to be honest with you it’s pretty much the same type of work I was doing training for Rashad Evans. - For more from Rua on Jones, visit Heavy.com

While some have questioned whether Jon Jones is deserving of his newly granted title shot, having only competed as a professional mixed martial artist for less than three years, it appears that the Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua isn't one of them.

"Bones" first learned of the news moments following his impressive second-round submission victory over Ryan Bader at UFC 126.  His teammate Rashad Evans was originally set to challenge Rua, however when an injury suffered during training forced him to withdraw, the UFC called upon Jones as a replacement just six weeks ahead of the bout.

"Shogun" Rua vs. Jon "Bones" Jones will headline the stacked UFC 128 fight card on March 19th from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Not really a Bones fan, nor do I care about Ninja's big brother. You lowkickers have fun with this one, like a Corny Canadian would say" I am oot aye"

I lived in Canada for 19 years and yes it is eh but I athink the term came from being both english and french speaking. When french guys say hey it it is a silient H so it is essentially ey and the english spell it eh. It's short for hey. GSP is pretty tough,eh? I just know a frenchcanadian and he always says eh but he means hey and when he says head it sounds like ed so that is just my two cents on the subject. I lived in Edmonton Alberta and have many good friends from there.

He gets his Canadian info from kids movies like brother bear so don't fret. It's just a small, small percentage in canada that speak with the oot style. You could always point out the ways cajun pronounce things too from America but all in all the two countries speak much the same way.

Yeah, and giving Lesnar a title shot with less than a year of MMA experience was perfectly OK ....

I don't think Jones has beaten that top 5 guy yet but I still think he has the ability to beat anyone in that division so I like him fighting for the title.

I see this matchup as one that is going to answer many questions. We all know the elite fighter that shogun is. If Jones does beat Shogun, I believe that we will have a champ for that division for quite awhile. Along the lines of GSP and SILVA in their respective weight classes.

If he gets past Shogun in a dominant way I agree.

If Jon Jones can defeat Shogun, he will be rich, RICH, R-I-C-H.

That man is a marketer's dream. He is still largely unknown to many casual fans, but after a title win, the big sponsors will be flocking to him, and he will make more money than GSP.
