"Actually I am really excited about this one. I really look at it as another opportunity to fight a former PRIDE winner, he won their Absolute tournament in ’06, he was one of their top guys ... I think a lot of guys would actually rather to avoid CroCop at this point in his career, I think he doesn’t have the same notoriety that he had before. You hear people saying he doesn’t have what he used to have or he is slower now, he doesn’t have what he used to have in aggression and tenacity. But the bottom line is if you make a mistake he can still kick your head into the bleachers." - Fighters Only

Unlike some of Frank Mir's recent fights, it looks like there's a lot of respect between the two MMA veterans. Mirko Cro Cop and Frank Mir will square off against each other at the main event of UFC 119 in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 25th. Cro Cop was recently involved in a false rumor, suggesting that the Croat pulled out of the fight due to a severe eye injury. However, the rumors were quickly dispelled by UFC President Dana White, Pat Barry and Mirko Cro Cop himself, who stated: "I got hit in the eye, but nothing scary. This isn't the first nor the last punch like that. It won't stop me from traveling to fight, and to fight next Saturday against Frank Mir."

Mir is going to finish the fight in round 1 maybe 2.

he will beat Cro cop in his own turf or is going to be the same thing that happened in the Kongo Fight. Either way Mir will win.

Strategically, that would probably be the smart thing to do... However, as of late it seems that Mir fancies himself a striker, so I wouldn't be surprised if he tested his stand-up against Cro Cop, as he did with Kongo. If that isn't going to well, then expect Mir to fall back on his grappling of course.

I agree. I think Mirs gonna come out fists up and bang with Cro Cop. Keeping an eye out for take down opportunities. But not forcing so much as his game plan revolves around it.

Mir didn't exactly test his stand up against Kongo. He threw 1 big punch and went for the choke.

Hughes' last two wins were the result of striking. His last was a submission victory but it was set up by improved striking. What is wrong with a martial artist becoming more well rounded?
