Speaking via the Carmichael Dave Show, Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White has officially confirmed that the winner of the UFC 114 grudge match between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans will challenge Mauricio Rua in his first title defense at the UFC Light Heavyweight division:

"The winner of the Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans fight at UFC 114 will get the first shot at Shogun Rua."

White's short quote dispells the rumors about a possible title shot for Randy "The Natural" Couture, who will square off against the Boxing legend James Toney at UFC 118 (still unconfirmed). UFC 114: Rampage vs Evans will take place on May 29, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Good move from Dana here.

When Rampage beats Rashad i hope Dana makes Rashad/Machida 2 on the same card as Shogun/Rampage 2

This will make for a great first title defense either way. Let's not all assume that Rampage is going to run over Evans either. I think a lot of fans are banking on it. Rashad is obviously not very popular here but is a very smart fighter where Rampage often runs on emotions. Don't count Evans out just yet, and remember how many good fighters he has beaten.

I would love to see Shogun VS Rampage II but it's not going to be a walk in a park for Rampage. Rashad has ONLY lost just ONE fight, have we fogotten that already?

Rampage is the man though I really hope he beats Rashad.

Shogun vs Rampage 2 would be a lot more interesting to me. Specially because Rashad would probably just leg hump Shogun all day.

both if the decide to wrestle with shogun because although he ****ed machidas shit up badly he got taken down twice and to be honest he got taken down rather easy. now im sure rashard would not want to trade with shogun after gettin clipped by silva. and im sure rampage would be stubborn and try stand with him and get over wheled by kicks.

I guess it's only the best picks. No other LHW is standing out as of right now.

The new version of Rampage/ Evans has improved and Rampage has defeated Liddell 2 times and Evans KO Liddell as well .I personally think not an easy first title defend for Rua
