Quick Quote: Carlos Condit wants Jon Fitch

"I think Jon Fitch, that would be a great fight. I think his game plan would be similar to (Georges St. Pierre ) game plan. Wrestler probably try to take me down, and if I could deal with that then that is maybe a marker for how I might do in a title match.

I’d have to work my butt off, but I like a challenge."
- MMA Weekly.

Personally, I think that Condit vs Fitch could be a great #1 Contender Fight for the future shot at the UFC Welterweight title. Condit is coming off an important victory over Dan Hardy at UFC 120, and will definitely look to make a statement against Fitch. However, this match could be quite problematic in terms of timing, as Jake Shields is expected to face the winner of GSP vs. Koscheck in the 2nd quarter of 2011.

Ya I agree, if this fight happens I would be cheering for Condit but I don't see why Fitch won't control his for 3 rounds and win via a decision

Fitch is always the #1 contender in that he's always the #2 guy at 170, but he can't just fight GSP repeately.

If he keeps beating everyone else he should keep getting title shots.

I guess Condit did not get his wish, Fitch is rumored to fight Ellenberger which I think is a really bad match up seeing that if Ellenberger wins he most likely wont get a title shot but if Fitch wins he is prolly going to get one so idk y UFC didnt just make Condit vs Fitch for number one contender spot

Ellenberger seems to fly under people's radar when they talk about the welterweight division, but he is a very solid fighter. I expect to see him in the title mix before long. He is currently 22-5 and 2-1 in the UFC. Yea, he did lose one, but it was his UFC debut and it was a split decision loss... and it was to Condit. So I do not hold it against him to much. We'll see tho.

True that Ellenberger is good a good fight but I rather see two fighters fight for the number one contender spot rather then one because I really doubt Ellenberger will get the next shot at the title if he beats Fitch

Shields getting a title shot after one lackluster victory in the UFC is a joke. Condit would destroy Shields now if they fought.

Seems like people have been saying that about Shields forever, yet he keeps beating who ever gets put in front of him. He may not always look impressive, but he has an uncanny grappling ability. As soon as the fight hits the ground he has an advantage over any fighter in the WW division.

Shields deserves the shot, and he has a much better chance of winning than most in the division... Love it or hate it, it is so.

Bullshit. Style-wise Shields is one of the crappiest opponents for GSP. There is nothing that Shields does better than GSP. All Shields has is his takedowns and lay-and-pray and do you think he has a shot in hell of doing that to St. Pierre?? Gimme a break. Georges is a better kickboxer, a FAR better wrestler, at least as good at jiu jitsu. Put simply, he has nothing for St. Pierre.

There are at least five guys in the UFC who have a better chance against St Pierre than Shields, Fitch, Ellenberger and Condit among others, all because they have better standup and the only way to beat GSP is to knock him out with a lucky shot. No one can outpoint him, period.

I would have to disagree with ya on this one. Sheilds needs to prove himself better in the UFC before they feed him to GSP. I think they should do Sheilds vs Fitch, then the shot. Fitch deserves one more than anyone he has worked his way back up in the UFC. Sheilds is ovveerraatteedd

    @Fedorscared yes it was.

@JS record speaks for itself? He only has 1 fight in the UFC. And yes his record outside the UFC does not matter in this situation.

@ YouKnow He is on a 15 fight winstreak that includes kampman, henderson, mayhem, lawler, daley, pyle, condit and okami. He could have been 0-0 in the UFC and he would have got the title shot, there was just a timing issue.

He barely got by Kampmann, he beat a tired and old henderson, he beat a druggy, a SF guy I think, Overrated Brit, and a good condit. Condit is the only nottable fight. Again what he did in SF does not matter.

I guess we will see when GSP smashes his face in. Can't wait

lol why is it what he did in SF doesnt matter? Daley was formidable when he was in the UFC wasnt he? but cuz he got cut for antics does that mean his fight skill has gone down? I dont think so. Mayhem? I dont personally like the guy, but he can fight. He still beat kampmann, he beat condiut, which speaks for itself and he beat okami? the one that is in a number one contender fight for UFC MW title? ya another notable one. Mike Pyle? yet another great fighter... Hmmm thats pretty impressive and pple seem to forget, the guy was cutting from MW give him a bit of a break, unless u have personally cut prob 20lbs (assuming he was 5lbs over 185) to fight

It is clear that you have an extremely short-term memory, and judge fighters based on their most recent performances, which is to be expected from most casual fans like yourself. After you saw Condit KO hardy he suddenly became superior to hendo, kampman, okami, daley ect. I guarentee you would be saying "beat an overated condit who almost lost to the youngest guy in the ufc" if this discussion took place before the condit vs hardy fight.

I know my words mean nothing to you, but let me jsut try and drill one more point. You called Henderson tired and old when he was fresh off beating Rich Franklin at lightheavy weight, and Bisbing at middleweight, COMMON MAN!

I like Condit and I was just recently watching his fight with Rory Macdonald and after seeing what Condit did to Hardy it made Rory's performance all the more impressive. I think the UFC was hyping the wrong up and coming welterweight contender when they saw Hathaways performance against Sanchez (not to take anything away from John cause hes great too, but I think Rory is going to be very successful soon).

This fight should happen. Everyone is talking about Condit's striking now but his BJJ is even better. He would take Fitch into deep waters......

Condit is not the number one contender just because he beat dan hardy. Besides, if he wants to fight fitch, he is in for the asskicking of a lifetime, there isnt a worse matchup out there for him. Condit should fight kampmann in my opinion.

I agree with you, but MMA always offers alot of surprise. If someone could put GSP on his back who knows how he would do off it? He dominates in every other position and MMA as a hole, but that's one position we haven't seen him in alot.

Well he did just call out Hardy and get the fight.

Maybe Joe Silva was feeling un-needed and whined to Dana about that being his job.
