Top Light Heavyweight contender Phil Davis, who will fight Rashad Evans in the UFC on Fox 2 headliner, discusses his opponent, as well as his strategy for the bout. Davis explains that, while both he and Evans are both known as excellent wrestlers, only one of them actually are, and says that the former champ is still the "same old fighter" he's always been. Phil Davis

"I think he's the same old Rashad - which is very dangerous, very skilled, and I think he's definitely gotten better over the years, but I think he's the same old guy. ... The problem is, we're both known for excellent wrestling, but only one of us actually has it. I'm thinking about using the wrestling and mixing it up and doing what I can. There's no point in my career where I plan on abandoning wrestling. It's always a part of my gameplan, it's who I am. It's my strong-suit. That's something I'm going to go into every fight making my opponent respect."

Probably true for his stand up but if he really is a better wrestler and can take Rashad down and hold him down or ground n pound him for 3 rounds he can still beat him

Honestly all I see in Davis is wrestling and some good strength.

Im afraid Rashad will out strike him easily and out wrestle.

Looks like nobody here believe in Phil Davis. After all this is normal, Davis is undefeated but I don't think he knows how it's like to be outwrestled.

Little Nog and Brian Stann are the only 2 names hes beat and both were by decision. I also watch him fight to come to my conclusion.

So now nog and Brian Stann suck? You know how hard it is to finish a fight at this level of the game? " he just wins by decision" . Just like you think you decision your girl in the bedroom you lose by judges decision

Did I sat they suck? NO

I gave them credit by saying they are bigger names.

You shouldn't reply if you can't comprehend the subject matter.

I have a feeling MMA and women are 2 things your not qualified to reply about.

Why did you put "he just wins by decision" in quotes? That's not what he said. Your not so good at reading are you? He didn't even insinuate that they suck. Your quick wit and obviously hilarious humor must help you more in life because you come across like a douche on here kid

I don't think it will come to a wrestling match from rashad ..look for Davis to go for the take down once he doesn't like the striking of rashad but he won't get it. This lost will make Phil Davis a better fighter

No doubt in my mind that Dev. 1 national champ is better than Rashad at wrestling, but Rashad is more well rounded and will probably win.

Same old fighter? You mean world champion caliber, great wrestler, and well rounded in every aspect of the game?

I guess you are right Davis, Evans is the same old fighter, and just where you want to be. Good luck with that.

Evans wins easily if he keeps it standing... if he engages a grappling bout it could go either way.
