UFC Welterweight contenders Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann and the Paulo Thiago will square off in the only 170-pound contest of UFC 115 in Vancouver.  Both Fighters will look to continue their form inside The Octagon, with sights on getting themselves into the mix for the shot at UFC Welterweight title sometime in the future.

The fight against Paulo Thiago will be Kampmann’s 10th UFC adventure. The Dane has four Submission vicgtories, one TKO and two decisions. In his two defeats inside The Octagon, Kampmann was knocked out (Marquardt and Paul Daley).  As for Paulo Thiago, the only blemish on the Brazilian’s record is a decision loss to the #2 Welterweight Jon Fitch at UFC 100.

Paulo Thiago is a huge favorite with 79% of votes on LowPick, with 49% of his voters believe that the Brazilian will end the fight by submission. Both fighters are top contenders in their divisions, as we can surely expect nothing but a technical high-level MMA fight at the GM Place in Vancouver.

via Unanimous Decision (30-27)

Round 1: The fight is underway, with both Kampmann and Thiago measuring a striking distance. Kampmann is the first to connect, with a very good punch. Paulo Thiago still looks solid, trying to find his pace in this fight. Paulo Thiago is a counter puncher here, unleashing a powerful-looking combo that comes very close to Martin Kampmann's chin. Headkick combinations from Paulo Thiago, but Kampmann manages to shake it off. Martin Kampmann connects with a good cross that drops Paulo Thiago! The Brazilian is looking to take the fight to the ground, and takes down Kampmann with an amazing Judo throw. Kampmann looking for a Guillotine, but Thiago responds with a Judo throw of his own. Another Guillotine attempt from Martin Kampmann, as Paulo Thiago barely survives! Amazing ground game from both fighters. Third Guillotine attempt by Kampmann, but Thiago is saved by the bell. A tough fight to call, but I will give it 10-9 to Martin Kampmann. 
Round 2: Wonderful performance so far by Martin Kampmann, the Dane looks solid in this fight, dominating Paulo Thiago on the feet and on the ground. Martin Kampmann takes Paulo Thiago down, having his back. Kampmann is currently in the Side Control, but Paulo Thiago responds with a wonderful sweep. Thiago has a few seconds to do something special here, but Martin Kampmann manages to weather the storm. Another fantastic round by Martin Kampmann. 10-9 for the Dane.
Round 3: Two fighters center the cage, with Martin Kampmann outwrestling Paulo Thiago. Kampmann is currently in Thiago's full guard, delivering some damage to the ribs. Paulo Thiago is trying to respond here, but it is Martin Kampmann who passes his guard and locks an impressive Arm Thriangle here. All he needs is to lock his legs on Thiago's hips. Paulo Thiago tries to shake Kampmann off, but the Dane remains in full control over the grappling dimension in this fight. They return to stand up, Thiago is looking for a takedown here, but Martin Kampmann responds with an amazing sprawl. Martin Kampmann has Paulo Thiago's back now, punishing the Brazilian on the ground. Another submission attempt, Arm Thriangle here but Paulo Thiago manages to survive. And the fight ends. Simply amazing performance from Martin Kampmann. The Dane dominated Paulo Thiago, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, on the ground. The Hitman will win a well-deserved Unanimous Decision here. Yes! 30-27 victory for Martin Kampmann... WELL DONE!

    I don't say Thiago is overrated, but Kampmann is definitely a solid underrated fighter.

    Very few people gave Kampmann a chance, an all those people can SUCK IT!!!!!!!!



    He put on a freakin awesome performance against the guy who everybody thought would get a title shot very soon. Not only did h drop him he nearly submitted him, and out grappled the **** out of him. Well done Kampmann indeed...
