Ultimate Fighting Championship are yet to release any official statement about the future of UFC 146 main event clash between Junior dos Santos, while fans are already speculating about possible replacements. #RallyForMarkHunt campaign is currently exploding on Twitter, but it appears that Frank Mir will be the one who gets the fight with dos Santos, if Alistair Overeem gets pulled out of the card.

Nevertheless, Junior dos Santos spoke on Twitter about Alistair Overeem's failed drug test, declaring that he's still preparing for "The Demolition Man" (via MMAMania.com):

"I am professional and I'm champion without ever having used anything for better performance when you guys see me fighting that's really me. About what happened to Overeem I don't know anything more than you guys know and for me It's between him and the Nevada Athletic Commission. I know a lot about me that's it! I'm doing my whole training camp to fight against Overeem!"

So who would beĀ  the best man to replace Alistair Overeem against Junior dos Santos? Mark Hunt? Frank Mir? Maybe Fabricio Werdum? Make your vote!

  1. 1. Frank Mir
  2. 2. Mark Hunt
  3. 3. Cain Velasquez
  4. 4. Fabricio Werdum
  5. 5. Other

    No.

M-1 is trying to get Fedor, Bobby Lashley. A "champion" they feel he can actually beat.

While not the most deserving he would most likely make for the most entertaining match up. And isnt that why we watch?

2 guys with awesome stand up is so much better than 90% of any other match up.

Mark hunt hasn't fought the competition, Mir has been training, he's won 3 in a row against "decent" competition so he makes the most sense.

When are you Fedor fanboys going to realize it's not 2005 anymore. Fedor is not the best heavyweight in the world and he doesn't deserve to fight JDS.

Fedor is still top ten. I think that might say more about the division than about Fedor but the truth is that he can beat any opponent on any given night. The Werdum fight was a fluke. Against BF he won a round and got dominated for a round but still ended with a sub locked in. If not for a swollen eye there is no reason to think that he wouldn't have adjusted and won the third. He was just plain stupid for fighting Hendo. HW vs LHW is always a bad idea. Not only that but he fought stupid as well. They both did and in going blow for blow the way they did both of them got rocked a number of times. If Fedor fought Hendo the way he fought Monson and Ishii he would have won. There are guys at HW who can beat him now but he can also beat them. All of them.

Mir would get KOed quick against JDS, he wouldn't be powerful enough to get JDS to the ground and sub him. Not that his BJJ is not good, it's just his wrestling that sux.

Cain fought him too recently to deserve a rematch, plus i think his fight with Mir is an excellent exciting matchup.

Werdum doesn't really deserve a title shot at this point BUT it would make for an exciting story, they fought long ago and Werdum got caught quickly but since then Werdum looked great in his last fights, especially against Roy Nelson.

I d love to see JDS vs Werdum IF Overeem can't fight... but obviously Overeem vs JDS was a fight I was extremely looking forward to, i hadn't been that much excited in a long time...

I think Mir could get JDS down, he might not have a strong double leg but he uses some nice judo throws and awkward trips very nicely.

I agree with tatrnutz for the most part. I would still give JDS a slight edge though considering what Big Nog did to Mir on the feat.

Mark Hunt is in no way a contender yet. Granted he has strung together 3 wins in a row, but two of those are against pretty low level competition. Maybe someday he'll get a shot, but he's not ready there yet. As for Wedum, one win against Nelson propels him to a title shot? Nope. And as for Velasquez, who is my fave heavyweight (followed by Dos Santos), he needs at least a win to get back to the top. Mir by far makes the most sense, love him or hate him. Period.

Lets be honest we're just wanting Mark Hunt to get it because it's a Cinderella story and he has a huge chance on winning.

Everyone is saying he doesn't deserve it, who cares! Reem made a mess and sure there are more deserving people but honestly who cares, lets have some fun!

In all seriousness I think this is a great chance for Hunto to get the shot as if not theres a chance on his way to the title he might face a strong wrestler or get subbed.

Yea that's true but the 2001 WGP wasn't as stacked with talent compared to a lot of others, although he basically took out all the best fighters in the tournament on his road to the title.

I wish that he used more leg kicks - he seriously has some of the heaviest and best leg kicks in the game, it really annoys me when fighters dismiss one of their best weapons!

Im down for hunt...he even asked for a title shot. Mir makes the most sense, but imo doesnt deserve it yet. I think he needs to get thru cain. Id say werdum or hunt for entertainment since JDS SHOULD win those matchups...and theyre still great ass fighters. Gp champ and werdum? Best bjj in the hw, with underrated boxing. I honestly think if overeem wasnt juicing, werdum wouldve man handled him when they fought.

Wait a minute, Mir doesn't deserve the shot yet and Hunt does? Mir is 7-3 in his last 10, Mark Hunt is 4-6. With all 6 losses coming in a row. Mir was already scheduled for a #1 contender fight on a huge highly promoted card, Mark Hunt wasn't even scheduled to fight at all. His biggest victory is his destruction of Cheick Kongo, who Mir beat EVEN FASTER. And Mir's latest victory comes by way of breaking Nogueira's arm with superior Jiu-jitsu. Mir is on a tear, and deserves this if anyone does.

Seeing how mir got knocked out by carwin and even lesner ffs, and almost even by big nog, he stands no chance standing against JDS. Mir has the edge on the ground but isn't going to be able to take JDS down (and keep him down) successfully enough due to his takedown defense and size, and will eat lots of shots on his way in.

The only person that stood a good chance vs JDS was Overeem because of the kicks. Hunt is the only one that is going to be able to utilize a diverse range of striking like Overeem would've, and therefore is the best replacement.

Mir is the only one that really makes sense right now imo, I really don't see Mir having any chance at all vs JDS but I don't think that makes any difference.

As for the Mir vs JDS conversation I am just curious if anyone has ever seen JDS been taken down? I don't remember a single time myself.

Why the hell does the poll result in Mir being favourite to replace Reem.

Can`t any of you see that Mir will be knocked out in the first round by JDS.

It is so obvious for me to see that it`s unreal.

Mir would be annhilated by JDS in the first, seriously. He has no chance of getting it to the ground because JDS has great takedown defence and is extremely athletic.

Werdum would also have the same thing happen to him as last time, i`m pretty sure of that.

Cain has just had his shot, so it can`t be him.

So it leaves Mark Hunt, who in my eyes is the only guy who has a chance of beating him anyway. Hunt could knock JDS out if he fights well.

As for Mir, come on guy`s you all know for a fact he will be knocked out in the first.
