No, he is not ready for that yet. He should just continue to work his way up in the HW ranking.
Exactly. He should fight Werdumor maybe even Carwin first. He looked good tonight but I think he loses to top 5 HWs
He is too short, needs to cut to LHW. He would be even better there.
I think he said that ce couldn't cut too much weight because of the extreme weight cuts he did in wrestling. his body can't endure too much.
@jdnextchamp
Oh cool, never heard that. Well I guess he is staying put at HW. But all im saying is that rushing him to a title shot against JDS is probably jumping the gun too much. He did well against Barnett but he should fight a top 5 guy first, then fight for the title.
That's true, he had that episode of kidney failure but that doesn't stop him from gradually losing weight until he gets down to 210. In fact that would be good for him.
He doesn't have to cut the weight, he could lose it slowly by refining his diet in a healthy manner. I'm personally excited by him via this performance, but I think does need a couple more fights against viable contenders before he should get a title shot in the UFC. Could he handle a JDS or Velasquez? I think he has proven he would give them a run for their money. However, if he faced a jiujitsu wiz like Werdum, I believe his wrestling would be ineffective in defending Werdum's world-class bjj.
Cain, Carwin, Fedor, Even junior isn't thaat Big.. It's just as much of being quick as it is being Big.. I would say Dominic Cruz is a big 135 pounder, could be at 155.. for his height.. It's all about comfort..Power = Speed + Ability
You think huh, coming from a chump that worship a cheating loud mouth. Go tuck yourself into bed you lil lonely virgin!
what are you talking about?!?!?
Says the southern inbred idiot with a middle school education while sitting in his mustard stained wifebeater with his dial up connection.
My girl sleeps with me, but your man cant sleep with you in your twin size bed. I bet its cold sleeping alone at night isnt it you hillbilly.
You better get to sleep soon, gotta wake up early to work the grill at McDonalds
Hateocracy - Lets behave son. There is no need for that kind of talk.
You are incoherent and weak in the brain
You're a fool son. DC is good as anybody In the UFC heavyweight division, and nobody has his wrestling pedigree. Daniel Cormier is a
solid threat to any heavyweight division including the UFC. Mark my word that DC will be a Champ for a long time!
He beat a sub-par juicer in Barnett. Any of the top heavyweights that can throw a punch can beat Cormier. Give him Travis Browne for a UFC debut and he'll be back in Strikeforce in no time.
Cain beats BigFoot... Daniel Beat Silva already... Might have an AKA no.1 contendership bout in the making..
Even Billy Jack knows you're a fool
great wrestling with good stand up.
can not wait to see how he matches up.
The winner of the GP should get a shot at the UFC title. Why not? DC won't disappoint.
That's not quite the same grand prix that we started off with. He has a lot of potential and I think he would be a good fight for JDS. However, in reality he hasn't faced a top 5 UFC heavyweight. I don't think beating Big Foot and Barnett warrants a title shot. However, beating them and a top 5 UFC does warrant that. These are 2 different organizations and the UFC heavyweight division has been filling up with more contenders than in the past so there's no reason to rush things and skip everybody.
But what about guys like Brock who pretty much walked into a title shot when he came to the UFC. DC is on a differant level... Brock didnt fight anyone to get his shot.
The division wasn't as stacked back then.
Very simple. If not him than who else? Overeem yes but he is suspended. There are no other clear contenders.
Werdum if he wins
how the hell the werdum's name keeps getting metioned....HE IS NOT A TOP 5 HW...you want to give dc a test...then test him out with someone who can present the same amount of power jds can...carwin. Carwin is also a good wrestler. As for speed, if he beats carwin then we'll just have to find out who is faster come title fight...i think it will be a great matchup between jds and dc (excellent tdd/boxing vs excellent td/striking) BUT test the kid out first with someone with good wrestling and knockout power...carwin is a no brainer..
People keep using the same excuses as to why DC won't keep winning. In the fight against Bigfoot people said the same, "he's a great prospect but this will be too much for him",
against Barnett "He's got a good future but Barnett is too experienced".
He just keeps getting better and better. This guy is a future UFC champ either at heavy or light heavy. Period.
If JDS losses Cormier the best HW in the world for shore. If Mir submits JDS Lesnar gona be back and can be champion in UFC easely no doupt about that.Cormier definetly the N2 HW in the world right now.
I just would like to see how he does against a great striker like Carwin, Werdum or even Hunt if he wins. I like DC and he impressed the hell out of me again but he beat Barnett, Bigfoot and Monson in striking and none of them are known for that.
He surprised me...I thought he was finished when Barnett got his leg ,but he showed that he has really been working on submission defense.
Not many guys get loose once Barnett gets a limb in his hands.
Only JDS, Overeem and Cain would give him problems.
I don't think Cain Velasquez would fight him, they train together.
Cain said in an interview that he would fight him.
Im not so sure a win over Barnett gives you an instant title shot.
I'd say normally you are right. However, he just got the win over Big Foot who was highly ranked. Plus there isn't really anybody more deserving at the moment. Cain was knocked out early last time they fought, and Overeem should not be given a shot anytime soon.
He's Pretty good but beating Josh Barnette and getting a title shot in the UFC just doesn't make any sense. Not sayin that he couldn't win but should have to crawl the ladder, nom sayin?
That's a shame he broke his hand again. I could see him injuring it again in training. Depending on how his recovery goes we might not see him for quite some time.... Great win though. He looked great!
I think so. When this tournament began, it was looked at as the best collection of HW fighters. DC won it by taking out two huge names.
I'd love to see he exchange with JDS. Better yet, see him take JDS down.
