Overeem: I will be fighting in December to get that belt sooner rather than later

Allistair Overeem claims he will be fighting in December. According to a post on his Twitter account:

Overeem is currently serving a 9-month suspension for testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone. the suspension was retroactive to March 27, the day of the test. That means Overeem's suspension will expire in late December. If the UFC holds a year-end pay-per-view card in Las Vegas on December 29, Overeem could be eligible to apply for a license to fight on it.

The question is, who will he fight?

The likely answer would be current Heavyweight Champion, Junior Dos Santos, as this was the fight he was pulled from and replaced by Frank Mir at UFC 146. That answer does not float with the champ, however. According to dos Santos via ESPN: "I would like him to do a test, a blood test. I think we both need to do that. I want a clean fight and he needs to prove he is not under any kind of substances. When you have a fight with two ‘clean’ fighters, you will know after the fight who is the real champion. A guy who uses doping is a fake fighter. I think he doesn’t deserve a title shot right now. Overeem needs to have another fight before having a title shot."

Ultimately, the UFC will decide who fights whom, but according to Overeem's tweet, he has his eyes on the belt that JDS has been sporting.

Troubling trend is 98% of fighters are on some sort of performance stimulant. To me this sport and others are losing creditability,so just make it legal to use TRT or whatever stimulant out there so it will level out playing field.

isnt TRT legal if done by regulations and the body needs it and the commision or what ever looks at med report what sucks everyones body is different there is alot of reasons why ppl need it including getting ahead to juice there bodies but I guarntee there is a way to regulate and like i said there is alot of reason that it could be needed

Yes Overeem cant wait to see you back in action after you completely embarrassed Brock. Mir was a pretty bad replacement for you. A solid striker is whats needed for JDS to put on a good show so lets bring out Hunt already, who cares if hes earned a shot or not I want an entertaining fight!!

I was a big overeem fan, now i can't stand him.

He's a liar and a fraud, would be a shame for mma if this juice gorilla gets to be champion ! IMO!

It's obvious that he juiced to get to this record ! FRAUD!

I also think Overeem should have to win at least one fight upon his return before getting another title shot. As Uncle Chael would say, "the offer has expired."

Well that was the goal, but .......... ahhhh, i'm so disapointed at overeem !

I thought this was an well spoken and correct fighter, now it looks like he cheated since he got bigger and i'm hoping he won't ever get the title.

Imo now he will just make mma look like a steroid sport, lost my respect for him ! (former nutthugger)

Or....how about we just let JDS take whatever he wants and call it fair?

    Entirely more realistic

Agree with the champ, he does not deserve an immediate title shot, the Ufc shoud punish him too, not just the commision, it just doesn't seem right. We've all been so excited to see him fight Junior and he disaponted us!

That said, it took time for me to like the guy because I like horses, and when I finally started to like him, he let's me down like that.

i agree w jds position on ped testing, however eventhough overeem was caught using doesnt take away that he is great fighter.

i think he is the only threat to jds in ufc

Let him fight Cormier when they bring him over from Strikeforce to tear things up in the heavyweight division.
