Nick Diaz finds no joy in defeating BJ Penn

Nick Diaz had a good night on Saturday. He left his opponent, BJ Penn, bruised, bloodied and announcing that he was most likely retiring after the fight. He then found out that he was going to move past Carlos Condit and get a shot at UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre and then, to top it off, the fight is most likely going to occur on Super Bowl Sunday. Oh, and he also picked up $75,000 extra for “Fight of the Night.”

Most people would be happy with a night like that, but Diaz, was his normal surly self when it came time for the post-fight press conference.  Diaz sounded off on a few topics during the presser; not having a good camp, why he wasn’t motivated by fighting Penn, how he has no time to get situated and get his life together and how he found no joy in his victory.

Nick should pay his sparring partners and trainers... come on be a big boy and stop complaining. Stop acting like a Democrat and blaming others. You got the money... You had a shot at the title and failed.

this is what nick was trying to say .. when he was talking about his training partners he was trying to say that when they switched the fight he probably have to drop a lot of training partners new ones so he probably ended up paying for a lot of them... when he was talking about gsp he was trying to say he should of put his foot down and said no to the fight switch because he knows that nick is a bigger threat carlos condit.. and when he brought up the money issue only was trying to say that he could of easily not took this fight because of the money the way it was done and people not recognizing what a huge risk he took on short notice.... this is what I think you was trying to say I agree 100 percent specially when it comes to the money the bottom line is it the ufc fighters way more then they're doing now eminence tanning today right of nick diaz made way more money that night then all the fighters combined

i hope we see the old gsp come in and kick nick in head so hard so he can wake the f u c k up and realize how much of a retard he is...he honestly thnks life is too damn hard for him....i mean look at how most of these brazilian fighters like aldo, dos santos, belfort ....etc....they know how lucky and fortunate they are to be fighting in ufc and getting paid. they all have nice homes, better than mine for sure. Nick,,,,GROW THE F U C K UP...you have more than half the people in this country and keep in mind the company is still in its infant stage compare to boxing...swallow ur damn pride and act like the true pioneer that we all think and hope you are.

you have no ****ing right to say that at all, you dont know anything about his life or how he grew up, what his childhood was like, his parents, his environment let alone the area he grew up, poor and around all sorts of crime. Thats a hard ****ing life and I dont see some little bitch behind a keyboard telling him to grow the **** up because hes still in those circumstances and has fought hard to get to where he is and still doesnt get enough credit. SHut the **** up kid

Compared to some of the Brazilians in the UFC who have struggled through severe poverty, Nick does act ungrateful for the opportunity for success that he has gotten. One thing guys like Diaz need to keep in mind is that no matter how deep in the pit that you think you are, there is always a place where it goes deeper.

First of all let me say that I have to favorite this vid on youtube haha. Yea Nick is different than most people on this site especially but he is a good guy. Like all of us, he wants more money. Who doesn't? I know I do. He wants to take care of his family and his close friends. I can't knock this guy for his paranoia, his stuttering, his complaining, or his off topic wandering. Nick Diaz keeps it real and who cares if isn't the way you or I do things. He is a great fighter and is probably doing bigger things than most of us. I will always be a fan.

lol, I find his paranoia hilarious. You really can tell he keeps it real though, and that's why he is entertaining. He really is pretty sheltered in his own world, doin his own thing, doesnt really know whats going on outside of his little world.

Hell you can tell he just listens to what his coaches tell him to do. His training is his life, that's what he knows and all he knows.

But I can't help but think with how he talks, if his coaches are taking advantage of him. You can tell he does nothing but worry about his training.. and with him saying how his team needs to be compensated (not knowing how its even handled or that being handled by his camp at all), and how he doesnt even really know if he has enough money to move... you can tell he don't even handle his own money. All the crazy things hes saying likely come from his coaches filling his head w/ it...

Funny you say that. I thought the same thing. Reminds me of Mike Tyson a little. Nate seems like he knows a little more so maybe his money is alright. Who knows haha. I wonder if he would even pay outside people to come in and train if he had the choice. I'm guessing he would because he talked so much about it but it's hard for me to believe Nate, Jake, or Gil would let people take advantage of Nick that badly. And that's another thing that's really amazing about Nick and all of those guys really. They have been training with the same people over and over and they are still successful. That says something about how good they really are.

Who Has Nick Diaz Fought? Scott Smith,KJ Noons who he lost to mind you, old man Frank Shamrock or Paul Daley Which one of these B Level Fighters was his most impressive performance? The answer is Who Cares, Oh sorry he Beat up a washed up BJ Penn also. What you people are neglecting to see is that Nick Diaz isn't all that good, and his level of competition clearly shows that. I for one can't wait to see GSP put this guy on his ass and keep him there. I would be talking a lot of crap if I were Nick also, any tactic to try and avoid the beating he's gonna receive Against an A level fighter who's the best in the world.

Actually check the threads after BJ lost to Edgar for the 2nd time. Many were saying BJ was washed up.

BJ isn't washed up. He actually put a fair bit of hurt on Diaz too, but his cardio just isn't up to it. People have questioned BJs motivation in the past, and I think all the Diaz fight highlighted was that his training regime does not cut it. Skills wise BJ showed he can dominate a fighter like Diaz, just not for 3 rounds, only 1.

Yea, You must believe in Santa Claus and the friggen Easter bunny. It's not happening, You know what's gonna happen? Diaz is gonna finally fight someone who is good and get crushed. Gsp is gonna exploit every flaw in his weak game... And afterwards you can just say But all he did was Lay and pray, While he's getting his hand raised. Nick Diaz is a Joke, Its gonna be real hard for him to make it an exciting fight when he's trying to get Gsp off of him the whole time.

So basically what u r saying is that u r hoping for another boring fight where GSP just lays on top of his opponent for 25 mins? If every fight was like that who would watch the UFC. People like Nick Diaz r real true fighters and the reason people enjoy this sport. They don't even care bout winning they just want to fight and its that spirit that makes Nick so fun to watch. Don't get me wrong GSP is great, I cant deny that. But he is so damn boring and I dont appreciate watching him fight. He doesn't put on a show. He doesn't get me up off my seat. I usually cant wait for his fights to be over. That's why I want Nick to kick his ass. Cause he entertains me and I appreciate that. And dont think I dont know anything about MMA or dont appreciate jiu-jitsu and wrestling cause I do. I just dont appreciate watching someone thats so afraid to lose their title that they just play it safe every single fight and then apologize afterwards saying "sorry guys I tried to finish". Thats why GSP is lame. I dont wanna watch a boring lame play it safe champ. Diaz or Condit I love both those guys and I just want one of them to finally get GSP.

GSP is the best WW fighter and if you wanted to teach someone MMA then he's one of several that would be top of the list to watch. Perhaps you should stick to boxing as you obviously have no appreciation of good MMA when it's on display.

Show me a single fight of GSPs where all he did was lay on someone? His ground game is about looking for submission attempts. Not as easy as it looks, but he's good enough to control his opponent without risk to himself and attempt submissions and deliver GnP. People make it sound easy what GSP does, but if that was the case we'd all be champs now wouldn't we?

What you see as lame, Is what makes this sport not boxing, if you wanna just see people pound each others heads in than boxing is for you. I can't possibly knock Gsp for being good enough and reaching the point is his career where he can fight whatever fight he wants. That's what hard work and dedication will get you. Gsp come in with a game plan and executes it, for that alone he deserves to be champion and until someone is better or gets lucky, champion is what he will be. I respect Nick Diaz and at times enjoy his fights, but he hasn't faced anything like GSP, that's a whole different animal. Honestly what good wrestler has Diaz ever fought? Gomi? Let the chips fall where they may, but I don't see it being a good night for Diaz.

I have to say I enjoy these press conferences. The most fun part of the presser was that he said he is fed up living in such a poor neighbourhood. When Dana responded that he has enough money to buy a new house, he replied that because he fights every 3 months he doesn't have time and doesn't know how to buy a house. "I haven't been to school to do that"! That shit really cracked me up.

Actually it shows that he focused only on his training and is pretty damn sheltered and doesnt know anything about the process of buying a house, to the point that he thinks you need to know a lot to do it.

Saying "He's trying to blame others" is just looking for something to complain about, when in the same sentence he straight up admits he don't know how to do it. That's quite the opposite of what you say, and you would know that if you werent trying to find something to knock him for.

His craziness is part of what makes his personality, as well as what makes him a good fighter.

You think he would dedicate himself so much to prove himself, or be as successful as he is, if he didnt think how he thinks?

Sure it's rediculous, but you can tell from his cardio that it's pushing him to train far beyond that which other fighters do.
