Nick Diaz is set to face BJ Penn in the main event of UFC 137 this Saturday.  The promotion held open workouts on Wednesday after which the fighters were made available for interviews. Diaz took 20 minutes out of his day to answer questions from the press.

The interesting video covers a lot of ground, including MMA as a job, BJ Penn, his team, his brother, his reluctance to face a fighter he knows and perhaps most tellingly, he ends the interview saying, “This isn’t like a normal fight for me, it’s more of a sporting competition this time around. I hope nobody's too disappointed if it doesn’t go the same as it always does.

Diaz also spoke about his future as an MMA fighter, claiming that the UFC 137 main event bout with BJ Penn could be his last.

I agree. Let him go on and he says stuff like this:

"I can't stop fighting right now....if I wanted to. Ya know, I gotta make some money."

    .........and then 2 min later...

    "I don't need this......I don't care about the money."

    .........and then 1 min later...

"I'm just grateful to have a job...and to be getting paid."

thats a really good point actually. you know what hes gonna say, but keep asking him. Obviously a fighter like Diaz doesn't want to hear that shit over and over again. He's the wrong personality for that shit.

yeah he seems very unconfortable doin all the promo. and he contradicts himself too. but I kinda understand him. everyone likes money. having an opportunity to earn your money with what you can do best is a thing you can be grateful for. but on the other hand: as soon as money is envolved everything is less about fighting itself but more about buissness and entertaining the people. the guy loves to train with his team and to evolve as a mixed martial artist and he likes competition. but he hates everything that goes along with the buissness-side of it...exept, of course, the money he earns. he once said, if he'd make as much money doing triathlons he would quit pro-fighting right away.

You can tell Diaz is a few fries short of a happy meal.....Great fighter, but would not be surprised AT ALL if his name comes up on the evening news sometime in the future. Must be bi-polar or something.

I hope he's pullling our leg like before when he said he was done with mma . I think he has the potential to beat penn and the either gsp or condit. He could be the new ww champ for sure

Diaz is peaking hard right now. I think he can potentially beat all these guys no matter who has the belt.

Wait a minute! With Diaz's comments, we could turn this into a Chael Sonnen-style challenge.

Odds are BJ will "leave the weight class if he loses" to go back to 155. And Diaz says this could be his last fight with the UFC!

    Is Chael Sonnen developing superpowers?
