Nate Marquardt returns to ZUFFA, will fight for Strikeforce
Posted on February 22, 2012, 09:27 AM by Anton GurevichGood news for Nate Marquardt fans.
Former UFC Middleweight title challenger returns to fight under ZUFFA umbrella, only that this time he will do so for Strikeforce. The news were announced on FuelTV's "UFC Tonight" show.
Further rumors suggest that Marquardt's first opponent could be the 10-0 Tyrone Woodley, in a fight for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight title. The belt was vacated by Nick Diaz's departure to the UFC back in 2011, after defending his title for the last time against another UFC outcast, Paul "Semtex" Daley.
Marquardt's long road of disappointments finally comes to an end, after "The Great" failed to receive medical clearance for his UFC on Versus 4 main event clash with Rick Story, followed by the cancelation of the BAMMA Welterweight title clash with Yoshiyuki Yoshida.
Nate Marquardt is 31-10-2 in his MMA campaign, with 8 KO/TKO's, 15 Submissions, and notable victories over Rousimar Palhares, Demian Maia, Martin Kampmann and Kazuo Misaki.

Sucks how Strikeforce is so shallow that this cheater can sign with them & land a title shot in his 1st fight.
come on Chael haters where are you at lets all call Nate, a 2 time steroid cheat.
Want me to call the wambulance?
LOL !
its a pity that Natural Fedor is not with strikeforce anymore to teach Juiced up Nate how to live.
note: I admit this comment is just a pretext to make you read Fedor's name ,so you weak me ,and do a lot of replies to attack me and fedor.
ANd at the end of the day , this uselesss Thread about the cheater marquardt , will actually have more comments talking about Mighty Fedor. let's see if my plan works once again Oo
Great to see him back in action soon. He's a great fighter
Maybe he can fight a 185 eventually and fight Jacare,Rockhold,Lawler,at least his nice to see him back on the map,he got never fought with BAMMA,good addition to SF!
Rape is funny huh? Hope you end up in a prison shower love scene homey.
I'm happy for Marquard! He's such a nice guy and was treated very bad by the UFC. Hopefully he gets a chance to fight one day in the UFC again.
Yeah, I'm not sure if he cheated or not (don't remember the whole story) but I got the impression that he was booted more for screwing up the show than anything else. I'd love to see how he does against guys like Kos and Ellenburger. Putting him up against Woodley should give us a good sense of where he stands in the WW division. If it is a grueling fight then he is at the top of the middle win or lose. If he dominates then he is probably a top ten caliber fighter.
