Nate Marquardt out of UFC on Versus 4; Rick Story set to face Charlie Brenneman

The development, which has since been confirmed by sources, was first reported by MMAJunkie.com.
Instead, the Heavyweight clash between Pat Barry and Cheick Kongo, orginally set for the co-main event, will now fill the vacated headliner slot.
Marquardt's scheduled opponent, Rick Story, will in fact remain on the card, as Charlie Brenneman has stepped in to face the rising contender. Brenneman had a similar fate earlier this week when his opponent, T.J. Grant was forced out of the event.
The reason for Marquardt's sudden withdraw just a short time prior to the official fighter weigh-ins is unclear at this time, but reports indicate that he was not medically cleared to compete. In an official statement released by his camp, they referred to the incident as a minor setback and assured that Marquardt would still move forward with plans to fight at 170-pounds.

So this is why Nate has never cut much weight, he just can't handle the process. This really sucks though.
Comon, the day of weigh ins? Look at the guy's frame he is huge, it is VERY likely that is the problem. Are we not supposed to use our brains? Some assumptions are very likely get over it.

You assumed that Story will roll of Brenneman, that Barry will beat Kongo, and, that Kongo will be cut after tonights fight. Thats 3, count them 3, assumptions.

That really sucks... he was by far the biggest name on this card. But at least it puts a Pennsylvania native in the main event - not a bad thing for the first UFC event in Pittsburgh.
A side note... I would just like to remind you guys to update the picks.
So the original fight Nate vs Johnson never happen and neither of them is fighting on the card what a disappointment.

They should put Tyson vs Manny on the main card instead
It went from an exciting bout between Marquardt and Johnson to an okay bout between Marquardt and Story to a mid-card-at-best bout between Story and Brenneman.
They'll find a way to make it up for the fans though. I hope.
what a slap in the face for Story if he would have won he'd probably be 1 fight away from fighting for the belt now who knows. Big step down in competition he should easily go through brenneman. Really sucks for Rick story

If Dana released him for a health or weight issue then Dana is an even bigger ass than i first imagined.
There needs to be a union for fighters big time ... Dana treats fighters differently based on if they suck his nuts properly or not ... He acts like he is the godfather and everyone should kiss his ring.
