Nate Marquardt was on course to make 170 without incident

Just a short time ahead of yesterday's UFC on Versus 4 official fighter weigh-ins, it was announced that one half of the event's scheduled headliner, Nate "The Great" Marquardt, would no longer be a part of the card after failing to recieve medical clearance to compete.  What followed, however, was even more unexpected, as UFC President Dana White took to Twitter to confirm via video that, not only would the former Middleweight title challenger be off the card, he was also being released from the organization for which he has competed since 2005.

In wake of the news has come much speculation regarding his failure to receive clearance, which has primarily been centered on possible difficulties making weight.  However, the video below, provided by E. Casey Leydon of AllElbows.com, thoroughly documents Marquardt's weight cutting process, which was clearly going well for the Grudge Training Center protege.

Aha! The weight was all in his butt the entire time, I never bothered to check it so I never thought he could cut to 170. Touché Marquardt....touché

how weird is that seeing the video. Just as nate was saying, the cut would be easy and he makes weight easy, so its nothing to do with that. failed drug test im guessing.

Drug test makes no sense, Leben's tested positive, so has Bonnar, Belfort, Dana's said Sonnen should be allowed to fight again, Sean Sherk also tested positive. Every incident of people testing positive for some sort of substance has just resulted in Dana letting the commissions deal with it so I don`t see why Marquardt would be different. Maybe we all need to stop looking at this as Marquardt getting booted from the UFC and wondering why he didn`t get medical clearance, maybe it was serious enough to end his career.

But Dana was pissed. If it was something Nate couldnt control then Dana would have said it was unforunate and sound apologetic. Dana was very angry, so it must have been something under Nates Control. And the difference between everyone that got busted for steroids that you listed and Marquardt, is that everyone else didnt have to pull out of the fight the day before, after Dana and Co. spent money marketing his fight

How far out was this video taken? It may be that he was on par but wasn't able to keep it that way.

He's obviously done something to in one way or another sabatoge the ufc. I think he has a pre-existing medical condition that he tried to hide from the commision, or he was on something like Testosterone Replacement Therapy and his levels were too high or he abused the treatment somehow. Either way he pissed of Dana and inconvenienced the UFC big time!

HHmmm , The industry is Retarted , they think that testosterone is some sort of supercharger for a male and its not. only when its mixed with other pro hormones do bodybuilders get insane muscle but it does nothing to help with stamina.

If they tested 20 30yo Mma fighters , They will all have different levels of Test due to hard training and food intake. Is it fair for one to have lower levels because his body responds less to nutrients of food? Post Therapy test boosters are Legal and they increase test to normal levels Athletes are scared to take these eventhough these are totaly legal . Its not cheating to take these because they only bring test to normal levels not way past like D-asperic acid wich is an amino acid .

If he had abused his medication wich was straight test boosters not natural then who cares its not going to do anything in the ring specialy at his age.

well thats the rules in sports dude and you just gotta follow them. In this sport or pro football or whatever your a professional athlete you have to be responsible for what supplements go in your body and what effects they will have.
