Lightweight contender Nate Diaz, who secured a first-round submission victory over Takanori Gomi at UFC 135, expresses his admiration for "The Fireball Kid," and talks about transitioning between 155 and 170-pounds. Also a topic of discussion for Diaz is Welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre, who he says "dodged a bullet" by not having to fight his brother, Nick.

    Duh doi, no.

GSP would have beaten him, probably will at some point in the future, but it would be GSP's most competitive fight in a long time. You clearly don't know jack-shit.

I think he still has the little brother mentality, he is still chasing after Nick's Shadow some what.......He knows his big brother had a hell of a fight with Gomi....But now he's going too have the confidence because he finished Gomi a lot quicker then his brother did......He is no gatekeeper.....

diaz brothers are extremely talented fighters who don't get the true respect they deserve simply because they handle themselves differently to everyone else.

i do feel bad how he gets the spotlight taken away from him due to nick's actions of late. this was a big win for him, and a good step.

damn right Nate beat guida, and maynard twice, Nates boxing looked amazing against Gomi, his punches looked quicker and stronger than he did at 170. I doubt there is a guy at 155 that could beat Nate up as bad as Rory Mcdonald did. Give Nate a top 5 contender next.

Nate Diaz is a good fighter--and he looked great against Gomi. He lost to Maynard, IMO, but it was close. Whether Nick or Nate like it or not, this is MMA, and wrestling is an integral part of it.

For all of Nate's talk of respecting Gomi, in the fight, he was clearly taunting him once he was confident. (what was the beef?) Nate taunted Rory MacDonald too, until Rory shut him up--and made Nate concentrate more on his fight game than his me-badass-you-object-of-scorn attitude games.

I suppose that is how the Diaz brothers bolster their confidence during a fight, but I can't say that I like it--nor do I think it is respectful to their opponents--it is the exact opposite of respect.

Good interview after Nate settles in and gets comfortable.

I thought he looked great in the fight.

Nate seems a little less mad at the world than his brother Nick does.

He even hugs it out with the reporter he joked with (about being escorted out) at the very end of the vid ... I imagine big bro Nick would rather be eaten by sharks than to do something like that.

Yeah... good to see him relax and attempt to enjoy the experience. Both brothers need to let their guard down a bit and realize these reporters are mostly there to appreciate them and pick their brains... these reporters are fans too ya know.
