Fight of the Night: Nate Diaz vs Marcus Davis
Submission of the Night: Joe Lauzon (over Gabe Ruediger)

UFC 118 combatants Nate Diaz, Marcus Davis (picture) and Joe Lauzon earned a hefty $60,000 bonuses for their performances at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Nate Diaz choked out Marcus Davis, in what was definitely a Fight of the Night worthy bout, as Joe Lauzon submitted the returning Joe Lauzon via armbar in a first round blitz.

The prestigious "Knockout of the Night" bonus wasn't awarded, as the the event featured not a single KO victory.

I would hope the UFC has health insurance for that. There are some health risks involved with MMA.

Davis now has a part in "the hills have eyes three" due to that face. anyway i think Davis showed awesome heart in that fight, he never gave up even though he was really badly hurt

Good for Joe. It was hard to tell that Marcus went to sleep because his eyes were already closed. It was strange.

Diaz's punches are like bee stings. They are not the most powerful shots, so at first u think ur ok.... But after u give it a few, the swelling sets in and u realize how badly you were stung!

Yea it shows the heart but also the stupidity of Marcus Davis cuz i thik this is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen this same eye get swelled up to this point. If i was him i would try to do something about all that scar tissue he as around that eye cuz he's always gettin it cut open or swelled up like a balloon.

I seriously hope that his eye hasn't finally taken too much damage. It is possible for injuries like that to sometimes lead to more serious problems and vision damage. The doctor looks concerned about the amount of damage to say the least.

Nate Diaz is getting better and better...Hope he fights Maynard for a third time.... Diaz won the first, and lost a close decision on the second... He needs to drop down again, and go after Maynard...

I hate the man very much but Nate is a very well rounded fighter. Appearantly his punches turn u into an alien and you cant take him to the ground cause then youll end up going to sleep.

Yeah, that could be an orbital fracture. And if it is, it does seem he has fractured it before, or maybe it was the other side, but if the same one keeps doing it that is cause for concern.

"as Joe Lauzon submitted the returning Joe Lauzon via armbar in a first round blitz. " Wow that is quite some feat, submitting yourself sure is worthy of sub of the night! :P

Maybe Marcus didn't actually take a beating but rather he is evolving into ET? Could be.

There should be a bonus for best performance, and that without any doubt belongs to Edgar. It is one of the best performances by any MMA fighter anywhere this year.

For me it was fight of the year also, but as no one looked like ET after it the skill displayed counts for nothing.
