Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic will step for the seventh time inside The Octagon, to face the young up-and-comer Pat “HD” Barry. Cro Cop will look to prove the World that he still belongs to the top of the UFC Heavyweight division, after many critics claimed that the Croatian legend should hang up his gloves. Despite the fact that many people think Filipovic is way past his prime, the Cro Cop won two of his last three fights in the UFC – all by TKO.
So, statistics-wise Mirko Cro Cop is still a menace in the UFC Heavyweight division. But when it comes to opponents, Mirko Cro Cop struggles against what the top UFC Heavyweight contenders have to offer. Patrick Barry is a tough test for Filipovic, but definitely an opponent the Croatian can digest. Both fighters have an equal chance against each other, what turns this bout into a crossroads of their careers. A winner of that fight will reclaim his place among the top of the UFC Heavyweight food chain, trying his luck against the likes of Frank Mir, Cheick Kongo, Minotauro Nogueira and Roy Nelson. The most likely scenario is that the winner of Barry-Cro Cop bout will find himself inside the Octagon against the Yvel-Rothwell triumphant.

Cro Cop still struggles to find his pace here, and delivers the first legkick of his own. Headkick by Pat Barry, but Cro Cop defends well. Another knockdown by Pat Barry! And again HD refuses to finish of Mirko Cro Cop to the ground! WOW! I've seen this only from Heath Herring against Big Nog. Another high kick from Patrick Barry, but none of these really connect. Mirko Cro Cop is looking to respond here, trying to get past Pat Barry's reach advantage. Mirko Cro Cop throws down Pat Barry, but HD manages to wake up very quickly. And now they hug in the middle of the Octagon with 40 seconds left. Simply amazing. High kick from Pat Barry, this one was close and the first round ends. Yves Lavigne returns the fight back to the stand up due to the lack of action. Mirko Cro Cop is looking more sharp here... Barry is looking for a high kick here, but Cro Cop catches it and takes him to the ground. Mirko Cro Cop is in Pat Barry's half guard here. | Round 3: Third Round begins, with Pat Barry pushing the pace. Axe Kick from Mirko Cro Cop! They clinch in the middle of the Octagon, and return to stand up right again. Mirko Cro Cop finds himself on the ground for the third time, after a wonderful legkick by Pat Barry, who again refuses to follow him to the ground. Mirko Cro Cop is pushing to the fence again, looking to punish Pat Barry with dirty boxing. Yves Lavigne is there to separate again, and now Mirko Cro Cop unleashes a full arsenal of his striking techniques.... Pat Barry is down, but Yves Lavigne lets the fight to continue. Pat Barry somehow survives, but now Mirko Cro Cop locks a powerful Rear Naked Choke and makes Pat Barry to tap out! Wow! Pat Barry could have finished the fight in the First Round, but Mirko Cro Cop managed to bounce back and score an important victory. Good performance from the Croatian! |

This is a tough one because I like Mirko so much but I'm not sure he is ever going to be the fighter that he used to be, and Barry is hungry as hell. I actually picked Barry but my heart wants Mirko to win big.
I see where you are coming from, but I really think that Cro Cop will pull it off. Don't be surprised if the fight goes to the ground, and Cro Cop may even submit him.

Cro cops knee is healed he says, so we might see the legendary kicks like the old cro cop used to deliver. Barry looks like a monster though.

Cro-Cop wins like I thought he would but I did not expect him to win by choke...I knew if Mirko weathered the early storm he could let his experience and cardio take over and prove who the better kick boxer is...I got so many "weak" votes for saying it's too early in Barry's career to beat Cro-Cop, well it looks like I was right. Great to see Cro-Cop back in the win column again and contending

This was a close fight. I think if Barry would actually go for Cro-cop after hurting him the fight woulda been over in the first or second. The third round was 1 sided and barry Gased out. Did anyone notive CroCop didnt have any sponcers, no T-shirt , no Hat and no Billboard poster in his corner. Do they know something we don't?
