Mike Russow: Victory over Fabricio Werdum would kick my career into high gear

Russow will be fighting Fabricio Werdum in the co-main event of UFC 147 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, with sights on getting himself in the mix for a shot at the UFC Heavyweight title. Thirty-five year old heavy hitter knows Fabricio Werdum is the man to beat, in order to prove he's not just a "gatekeeper" in the UFC.
Mike Russow is currently 15-1 in his MMA career, with 4 KO/TKO and 8 Submission victories. Russow is 4-0 in the UFC, beating Todd Duffee, Jon Olav Einemo, Justin McCully, and Jon Madsen.

In my humble opinion, Russow is currently one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC. His record speaks for itself, and the fact that he's (technically) competing since 1998, gives a clear indication that Fabricio Werdum will be testing his skills against a worthy opponent on June 23rd. todd duffee was still in the fight until russow landed that devastating ground and pound at 15 seconds
Russow is a great fighter but I think if he wants to beat a guy on Werdum's level he needs to train full time and not have a second job.
I think Russow matches up against Werdum the same as big country but without the 1hit KO power.
Not to mention he is going against a Brazilian in Brazil...
Werdum has been on the tear lately. Outstriking Overeem is a proof. Don't be surprised if Vai Cavalo is the one who becomes the next #1 contender. However. Russow has the skills to turn this fight in his way...
Without the 1 hit KO power? He KO'd Tod Duffee with one punch!
Werdum's striking is good but he clearly got outmuscled in their last fight. Werdum tired himself from all the takedown attempts. Overeem outstriked him in the end. One judge had it 30-27.
Werdum is quite rightly the favourite. However you can never count a guy out that can walk through a tonne of damage and has one punch KO power.
