Mike Easton injury results in Renan Barao vs. Ivan Menjivar bout
Posted on March 23, 2012, 09:08 PM by Trent ReinsmithA training camp injury to Mike Easton has resulted in changes being made to two upcoming UFC fight cards.
Easton, on a seven fight winning streak, was originally set to face Yves Jabouin at the UFC on Fuel 3 card. Jeff Hougland, who has a nine fight winning streak of his own, will replace Easton on that card, moving from UFC 148, where he had been scheduled to face Renan Barao.
Barao, 28-1-0-1, will now face Ivan Menjivar at UFC 148, in a fight that MMAFighting.com is reporting may very well decide who faces the winner of the upcoming UFC Bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber. Menjivar is riding a three fight winning streak, with his last victory earning him submission of the night honors.
The fight between Cruz and Faber is rumored for the July 7, UFC 148 fight card, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

No disrespect for Menjivar but its unexplainable how big the step up in comp is from his previous fight, while Barao is taking a step down in comp for this fight IMO.
I think the fights going to reflect this.
Personally I would have liked to see Barao fight Bowles and if he wins he gets next title shot, if Bowles wins he needs one more win for a title shot.
Bowles will never again be Champion for a Zuffa organization. Just too good of competition now.
Bowles should have gotten a title shot b4 Faber, But Faber beat him to the "punch"
