Michael Bisping talks injury, open for Stann and Lombard match-ups
Posted on June 8, 2012, 01:44 PM by Anton GurevichOctagon veteran Michael "The Count" Bisping shared more information about his knee injury, and the cancelled fight with Tim Boetsch at UFC 152. Bisping was originally scheduled to face Boetsch at UFC 148, but the fight was postponed to UFC 149, and now cancelled after "The Count" had to pull out due to the afore mentioned knee injury. Boetsch will now face Hector Lombard at UFC 149 (previously reported here on LowKick.com for UFC 152), while Bisping becomes "available" for Brian Stann, who's also currently recovering from injury, or the winner of Tim Boetsch vs. Hector Lombard.

Hmmmmm.... I'm from Scotland, and being from the UK i actually quite like Bisping because I get his sense of humour.
However, a lot of fighters carry these injuries through fights and get the surgery when it's convenient. I.E when your a number one contender and the champ is layed off long term.
I kiiiiinda suspect that in this case Bisping saw that Stann was out and thought "oh shit, i am NOT prepared for Lombard. Oh wait, I'll have that op".
Might be a bit conspiratorial but Lombard is a terrible match up for Bisping. Hector knocks people out for fun a-la-Hendo style, and I think Bisping knows he aint ready for that again when he's climbed back into contention
Lombard is not nearly as bad a matchup for Bisping as you make it sound. The Hendo KO was a bad moment for Bisping, but he has faced plenty of other guys with brutal KO power...Rashad Evans, Wanderlei Silva, and Chris Leben to name a few.
Lombard has a very impressive record, and obviously is a very talented fighter, but the level of competition he has faced in his career is not even close to Bisping's resume.
When you just look at their records, Lombard's looks more impressive. However, Bisping has fought 16 times in the world's top MMA promotion with a 12-4 record. Lombard, on the other hand, has only fought twice in the world's top MMA promotion - in PRIDE when it could still be considered that. His record was 0-2. He has made a career of thriving on second rate competition.
Bisping would be by far the toughest test of Lombard's career. Lombard would just be another fight for Bisping.
Lombard has KO power, but Bisping has a reach advantage, better technical striking, and great defensive wrestling to shut down Lombard's judo game. Bisping wins this fight 8 times out of 10 by decision.
Bang on the money Mousasi, could`nt of said it better myself.
The reality is there is a conspiracy and it's against Bisping. Not talking about you specifically John but there's been a bunch of injuries recently and the only one that's 'suspect' in people's eyes is Bisping, even though he's never pulled out of a fight or turned down a fight/dangerous fighter in his whole career.
I was on mmabay and the comments were just full of people saying he was a coward like this was a hard fight for him compared to Sonnen, Silva, Hendo etc.
People just love to rag on Bisping and it has no basis. He'll just never get respect from nationalistic US fans. Even if he was the champ they'd say it was lucky. Not saying all US fans, just a certain demographic.
