Matt Hughes looking at UFC return will let Dana White make the final decision

The last time we saw UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes in the Octagon he was waking up and asking what happened after being knocked out by Josh Koscheck at UFC 135. Following that fight Hughes said he was asking that the UFC “put him on a shelf” for a while.

It seems as if it has gotten a little lonely for the former UFC Champion up on that shelf as Hughes is thinking about getting back in the mix.  During an interview on Fuel TV, Hughes had the following to say, “I think Dana could be the final decision maker. My wife's a great lady, but she's not going to tell me when Matt Hughes retires." As far as when he would be ready to go, Hughes again deferred to the UFC President, “Soon as this old body can get back in shape I would love to get back in there, that’s another question that he’ll answer for me.”

What do you think LowKick’ers, should Hughes return to the UFC and if so, who should he fight?

He should probably move down to lightweight if he is going to fight again. The welterweights now are 6f and over.

And the time before last, he was waking up and asking what happened after getting knocked out by BJ Penn.

Dana will say the same thing as his wife...time to hang 'em up.

Hughes has done enough for the sport, I'd say its time to hang up the gloves!

Matt Serra vs Matt Hughes 2 would be a good way for both of them to retire

It’s hard for these hall of famers to hang it up...I can see it. They are so use to winning, it’s probably really hard to face the fact that your old news. They'll have to be "Chucked" out. A few KO's on the receiving end and they finally realize it or face considerable damage. The next step after "Chucked" is "Ali'd" out and that's bad unless you want to be barely able to function or speak at that... For God sake Matt hang it up man. Your one of the greats no one doubts that and no one cares you got KO'd a couple times don't make it a 3peat.

Of course man, I'll watch him fight again. Its just not the same though, Its like watching a Matador kill the bull sure the bull started off great....he was fast powerful and amazing looking but as time goes on you know the bull is done and the fight has left his eyes... I'd like to see him go out on a win and not mutiple KO's....
