Chute Boxe product Maiquel "Big Rig" Falcao made a successful UFC debut, by defeating Gerald Harris via Unanimous Decision. Despite the slow pace in the fight, Falcao managed to impress with a great takedown defense, submission game and striking, which forced Gerald Harris to go on defensive during the most parts of the fight.

Falcao got Gerald Harris in a tight Rear Naked Choke in Round 1, but the "Hurricane" was saved by the belt. Harris found himself in the same situation in Round 2, but this time he was able to defend the attempt, and find his way back to the feet. Third Round of the fight was a huge disappointment, as both fighters went on defensive, failing to deliver any damage to each other. This was a poor decision for Harris, as he was two rounds behind in the fight.

In the end, good performance by Falcao. Personally, I would love to see more of him, against a well-rounded striker. This way or another, "Big Rig" has plenty to give inside the Octagon.

Harris was trying too hard to mimic Roy Jones Jr... I was really hoping for the damn head kick. :(

I agree but when he did get it on he looked a better striker than alves and as good on the ground as evan dunham at least. he will be someone to watch if this division has a john jones maybe it's going to be him.

Fight pissed me off - first 4 minutes had no action, last round Facao avoided him and should have been warned at the least.

The fight was over at 5 minutes. This fight and the Machida fight show why Japan has better judging and rules. With the 10 minute rounds and more emphasison how a fight finishes. You cant say the guy is a dirty fighter. He comes from brazilian vale tudo ring fighting, and I believe they do 20 minute rounds down there.

    Round One

Maiquel has to figure out an unorthodox/ dangerous opponent and gets the better of the round.

    Round Two

Maiquel dominates his opponent. By the end of this round he has clearly taken the first two rounds.

    Round Three

His corner instruct him to wait for a mistake.

    - Both corners know that Maiquel will win the fight if he doesnt get knocked out or submitted.

Maiquel follows the instruction of his corner and patiently waits for the final flurry/ counter attack which doesn't come.

Should a fighter / Miquael take a superior position in a fight and risk his position against a knock out artist by not following the tactical advice of his corner. Corner advice was sound, "wait for a mistake", if the counter would have come Miquael would have been operating within his limits and prepared to pick up the inevitable mistake of an opponent who although talented, has been proven limited in this show.

Why should a fighter have a corner to give tactical advice if he isn't going to take it. If Gerald would have come forward he would have looked great knocking him out, as it happens Geralds big words couldnt be backed up from a tactical or physical perspective.

I agree with that statement.. His first test in the UFC against a wrestler, he was justly cautious. I think he was a bit weary as many have fallen to that style even vicious strikers. I had a feeling he would have enough force to over whelm Gerald. Hes very agreesive and with time this guy will get even better.
