I voted Rashad...those that voted Penn did so based on emotion.

Other - Vitor Belfort, he was once a UFC champ and I see him becoming one again, and also, hopefully Wand makes a legit title run and becomes one of the best fighters again

I agree, it's the easiest choice.

He is the only one on the list who is actually fighting for a title in the next fight. Shogun is coming off knee surgery (we saw how good he was against Forrest in the same situation).

    Other...Randy Couture at LHW

Mir will have a good chance in the future but not for a while. Eventually he will figure out how to beat 300 pound HW's.

BUT, it doesn't say who will regain their belt 1rst, so the part about him being the only current number 1 contender. I do think he'll have a softened version of Shogun he's always had trouble coming back from a long layoff from injury. I voted other because my vote was for a Interim champ (Carwin) next fight he'll have better conditioning and won't finish himself off. I think in the 1rst round there was 2 occasions where it could have been stopped. next time it'll just be a K.O no need for a ref to decide!

That poses a good question though, makes you think. I think Rashad will get hurt trying to take away Shogun's belt, same with Randy Couture and I like him also. Machida has the shogun fear now, hes done lol j/k Lyoto could surprise everyone who knows.

Rashads chin is getting in his way of winning back the belt. BJ looks horrible but maybe if he trains hard instead of just saying he trains hard then he can get his belt back, but looks too despondent to come back. Seems like Matt Hughes is gonna retire soon, but hes looking good but not champ good. Frank Mir will always get pushed around by bigger guys. Never rooted for Machida but i think he logically has the best chance in my opinion

Rashad's chin huh? Hmmm.... You should look into that a little bit. Are you aware that he has only lost once in 17 fights? Sure he has stumbled a bit after being hit with big shots, but doesn't that actually prove his chin is decent? Many other fighters would have went to sleep.

i guess many other fighters have paper chins in your opinion. Rashads chin has been sort of exposed by fighters with serious knockout power by Rampage and Thiago Silva. Then the recent person with some power in his hands Machida. But Thiago was gassed and Rampage was tired and rusty and couldnt put Rashad away.....but its not like Rashad took them down while dazed or used good defense to prevent a knockout......Thiago Silva taunted because he was so gassed and Rampage was throwing punches that were missing its target somehow while Rashad was on the floor. Machida was the only one in shape and had kept busy fighting and he put away Rashad. If the Shogun that fought Machida for 5 rounds and then knocked Machida out in the first comes to fight then Rashad has little chance seeing how Rashad needs to avoid a good punch by Shogun. Plus Shogun is great off his back so Rashads tools are not going to cut it

rashad got seriously rocked by both silva and rampage but they were both too tired to finish. If shogun can learn some takedown defense he will rashad will get KTFO

Ok, you said yourself they have good "KO power." So yea they rocked him! Why didnt they knock him out? Oh wait... You had some reasons or another.

I agree with that, I hate when a guy gets ko'd once and suddenly their chin is weak, St-Pierre got tko'd 3 years ago are saying his chin is week, Kocheck can knock him out, Kocheck got knocked out just last year by a fighter who had never knocked out anyone, I'd be more worried about his chin than St-Pierre's.

solid reasons too...Rashad was lucky enough to not get knocked out by both. Im trying to persuade you that Shogun will squash Rashad because Shogun has endurance and cardio. In fact lets say Shogun beats Rashad then loses to someone else then Rashad works his way up somehow. That champion will be on top of his game enough not to let ring rust or cardio screw him over from rocking and knocking out Rashad. We all seen what happens when Rashad takes a punch or two while rocked, he falls down and looks like death and everyone on other websites shoop him and make fun of him =]

I would have voted for BJ Penn but my faith in him is not the same as it was. Rashad despite his conservative style still got tagged in his last two fights don't see how he'll avoid getting tko'd over 5 rounds with Shogun. Too many wrestlers + JDS for Mir to get that HW belt. no point even explaining why Matt Hughes won't. was gonna say Machida then I remembered i'll be rooting for Rampage so for me Rampage will get that belt somehow

If Rashad actually tries to wrestle Machida instead of standing up with him like he did last time Rashad would have a good chance of winning. That why I voted for Evans he'll just do what GSP does and wrestle everyone he fights now because he knows that's his best chance and it works for the most part.

Right, and if he beats Rua then he reclaims the title whether he beats Machida or not... The poll asks who is most likely to reclaim his title. Thats why I thought you had it mixed up : )

Tough call. BJ Penn needs to get his head on straight (no offense to the BJ fans out there) in his last fight he seems (to me) like there was something missing it was not the old BJ Penn. Lyoto is coming off an knee injury, but will see with his fight with Rampage I hope he is back to 100%. Matt Hughes is getting on in years so I think he need to kick the tiers and light the fire if he wants to get a shot at the title again and unfortunately it might not come this year. Mir ummmm so much potential but he has to get through some tough guys Carwin dominated him and have not seen him against Dos Santos nor Velasquez and this are some tough dudes. Evans will have to again prove himself against some very tough guys I mean yeah he beats Rampage but he (Rampage) looked like he had a lot of ring rust when he fought. I'm not sure but if Rua is injured then should there be a interim LHW title out there? Would that count as winning the title back?

I think all of them have a chance with the exception of Hughes. Rashad will be the first. In my opinion, Rua can not compete with a wrestler like Rashad. Penn could get his title back but I don't think he can get it from Edgar. There were a number of times when Edgar was in dangerous positions in BJ's guard and BJ was incapable of capitalizing. BJ has no answer (no pun intended) to Edgar's stand up. Machida is capable of beating any LHW on any given day including Rua. Mir needs to drill wrestling non stop for six months. If he does this he can be the champ again. Another name I would add in is Randy Couture. He can beat any UFC LHW or HW on any given day. He has one more title run left in him.

mir got steamrolled in his fights against brock an shane i dont see any reason why that wouldnt happen again

hughes is on a good run but is 1-2 against the current champ gsp

shogun has got machidas ticket punched

bj penn is 0-2 against edgar if maynard can manage to take the belt then he may have a chance

so all that really leaves is rashad who in my opinion is a long shot but has the best possible chance to regain his title out of those mentioned

Shogun would loose a rematch. If machida stays away like he should and uses the clentch to take shogun down over and over hewill exploit his weakness. He has very underated wrestling because it is sumo. He has beautiful takedowns and trips which use very little strength and all weight shift and leverage. He took shogun down at will and busted up his knee. If he did that over and over it would tire shogun out enough to submit or ground and pound. I bet we see him return to his ellusive style and include more takedowns. Remember he is very smart and humble so he will work on his holes. He has less to prove and won't try to go toe to toe again. His takedowns worked great and he is a great wrestler from the clentch. Look at him throw Tito sokojou shogun and trip his other opponents. I think this loss was his best motivation to evolve.

I voted Rashad. He's the only one who's next fight is a title shot and we don't know how Shogun's major knee surgery will affect him as his knee's have been part of his worste performances in the ring.
