Lorenzo Fertitta explains why MMA is still not sanctioned in New York
Posted on July 19, 2011, 06:10 AM by Anton GurevichUFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta discussed the sanctioning process of Mixed Martial Arts in New York, revealing some interesting details about UFC's "war" with the assemblyman Bob Reilly and the Culinary Union. According to Fertitta, the reason MMA is still "illegal" in New York is far from being related to sports, but more to the fact "that the Culinary Union would have enough political power to basically keep the democratic process from playing out".

The Fertita's could solve this by allowing their workers to unionize. Just saying.
I can see the front page now......UFC lost the food fight with NYC Culinary Union...
Come NY, you guys need this, why you not playing nice?
New York doesn't need this, MMA needs this
not really...MMA is everywhere in the world already, NY would be a good profitable event but NY needs the money wayy more than UFC needs it
Fights in Jersey, Philly, and Boston already get New Yorkers money.
They are just spending it in other states. New York the "State" is the real loser.
You can bet if they have union trouble in New York then they probably have trouble with some crime family there as well .. they run alot of unions in NYC .. not too mention Boxing.
