Lil Nog rumored to face Rampage Jackson at UFC 119
Posted on June 30, 2010, 07:45 PM by griffinAccording to Nogueira’s boxing coach Luis Carlos Dórea, Lil Nog will look to make his return to the Octagon in September at UFC 119 and it is being rumored that his opponent will be Rampage Jackson.
“It’s set that he’ll be back in September, and rumors point that his opponent might be Quinton Jackson. It’d be a great fight for Rogério, he’s a former UFC champion and a victory over him will move us pretty close to the title. The UFC only has top athletes and Quinton Jackson is really dangerous. It’d be a great fight, but the UFC didn’t confirmed anything yet.” Dórea told Tatame.com in an exclusive interview.
Both men were last seen at UFC 114 where in some eyes both men lost. Lil Nog got a close and highly contreversial split decision over somewhat new Jason Brilz. The fight was very back and forth but I like many others thought Brilz had pulled off the upset ....the judges saw it differently as 2 of the 3 gave Nogueira the nod. Rampage Jackson on the other hand was not so lucky. He lost the decision to Rashad Evans after Evans controlled pretty much the whole fight with his wrestling. If this fight were to happen it would be a good one as both men like to stand and bang.
UFC 119 is scheduled to take place in Indianapolis on September 25, 2010

I like both fighters so I really don't care who wins. It's not looking good for Rampage though.

idk, I wasn't really impressed with either fighter at UFC 114 but I guess if the fight goes to the ground Rampage will be in trouble and if the fight stays standing I would give the edge to Rampage

agreed. Rampage vs Machida makes more sense
both are big names but neither has looked very impressive in their last fight i am not sure if they both just had a bad day.
Well they pretty much had no standup in those fights. Since Nog is a boxer and Rampage can only slug, its going to be wayyyy awesome

Rampage i think should find a new training camp and drop WolfsLair. Last fight against Rashad, he looked like he forgot how to wrestle and defend the takedown.

Interesting matchup, though I agree that a fight with Machida would be even more interesting. Either way a great fight.
I know lil nog didn't look very good against Brilz, but he's a bad match up for Nog.
Against Rampage I would expect him to use his superior boxing skill to keep it close on the feet, and he's pretty slick on the ground.
Rampage to me is a lot of talk, some good knock out power, but mostly a lot of hype... I'll be pulling for lil nog in this one.

Hype like he's not good? Like its the media attention he gets that makes people think he can fight? I'm just trying to understand what you mean when you say he's mostly hype.
I wouldn't say it's the media hyping Rampage too much, I would say it's Rampage hyping Rampage. Lately it seems as though he has been really good at Hyping the fight saying how he's going to be agressive, knock people out, etc. And then fight night he looks tired, passive, etc.
This fight could swing either way as if Rampage could keep the fight standing up I can see him knocking nog out as lil nogs stand up looked stiff against Brilz but if nog got the fight to the floor he would win the fight with ease as his BJJ is at the highest level and Rampages ground game sucks especially when he is on the bottom so it could swing either way and I would love to see that fight - Why does everyone want to see machida v rampage as far as iam concerned machida would kill him in the stand up as he would confuse rampage and on the ground well let's be honest rampages ground game as huge holes in it so - lil nog would be a much more exciting fight even - but I could see machida v lil nog and Forrest v Rampage

Could be a good fight to get Rampage back into the mix. I hope he does well cause he is fun to watch. MMA wouldn't be the same without Rampage.
