Liddell is not ruling out a fight against James "Lights Out" ToneyPosted on March 17, 2010, 11:03 AM by Daniel Cassidy
One of UFC's most recognizable Light Heavyweights, Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell has spoken out about his desire to be the first to fight one of UFC's most high profile signings, heavyweight boxer James "Lights Out" Toney:
“I don’t know (laughing). I’ll have to talk to Dana about what’s going on, I don’t know what he’s doing. He’s got something planned. Toney’s at least coming from a boxing background and it will be interesting to see how much MMA he did and who they match him up with. I’m just hoping if they bring him in he’s gonna come in running his mouth about MMA and MMA fighter being bad and I hope they put him against somebody good so they will crush him.”
He also spoke about the possible Toney-Couture fight, saying:
“James has got one shot at beating him and that’s catching him with a punch coming in. Once he gets tied up it’s over. I would love that fight. You would actually see me hit a double and put him on his head. You might actually see me get a submission in the UFC. I might play with him for a little bit and put him in an arm bar or something.”
Despite not fighting since UFC 97, it's no secret he is desperate to reclaim the form that saw him capture the Light Heavyweight belt twice, and this is easily a match many would love to see, and one I would prefer to see Toney fight either Kimbo or Couture.
