Lesnar vs Velasquez possible for UFC 119

Coming off his impressive submission victory over Shane Carwin this Saturday, Brock Lesnar is ready to get back into the Octagon as soon as possible.

MMAJunkie reports that the UFC officials told both Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin the winner of their fight will square off against Cain Velasquez at UFC 119 on September 25th, if cleared by the medical commission. And in light of Brock Lesnar's UFC 116 post-fight press conference comments that he did not receive any serious injuries, the bout against Cain Velasquez in late September is more than possible.

Valasquez is currently 8-0 in his MMA campaign, with all but one ending in TKO or KO. Velasquez earned the #1 Contender spot after an impressive knockout victory against Minotauro Nogueira back at UFC 110 in Australia. The fight against Cain Velasquez could be the second consecutive time when Lesnar meets an undefeated challenger, but this time it will be a much different specimen in Cain Velasquez.

UFC 119  is expected to take place at the famous Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Other rumored fights for this event are

Lil Nog vs Rampage Jackson

Melvin guillard vs Jeremy Stephens

CB Dollaway vs Joe Doerksen

Matt Mitrion vs Joey Beltran

i dont know dude lesnar says he wants to fight and It would be unfair for Cain to have to way much longer plus the card looks really shitty right now especially if the Nog, Rampage doesnt happen

I don't think this fight will happen this quickly. Brock will need sometime to heal. He is expecting a baby in two weeks and will be needed as a husband, and father. I think getting back into a training camp right away would be a mistake.

yeah great point, i love seeing guys going straight back into it. maybe not as extreme as leben but GSP, Silva to a lesser extent and now shogun(although no fault of his own) all wait tooooo long between fights

Hope the fight happens soon...Cain has been sidelined for quite sometime now...In my view, Cain has a better chance than Carwin at beating Brock...His gas tank seems almost inexhaustible and he has great wrestling and striking skills...The only question is whether he can be a match to Brock's hulky strength and great ability to take and survive a good beating...I vote for Valasquez...He's the new Fedor! An awesome fighter, a humble man, and a great role model!!!!!!!!!!!

He will NEVER be the Fedor.....Because Cain has and will always fight good people. Don't disrespect the man like that.

"Think"... everyone thought Carwin could do it also. Cain doesn't hit as hard as Shane.

    @ Daniel

I understand what you're saying, but in GSP's defense, he did have an injury that laid him up for months, he came back, had one fight and then they put him on this season's TUF. There is not much that he can do on that issue.

And yea, it's a disappointment when you have to go that long without seeing a champ fight; particularly if you're a fan.

I feel you're pain, but it's (all) part of the business.

I'm really hoping that Brock sharpen's up his boxing skills because unlike Carwin, Velasquez will not run out of gas. I was also very surprised at Brock's retreat in the first round...I felt he didn't go backward with any control whatsoever. Don't get me wrong though...I'll continue to root for Brock...I enjoy watching him smash people. Just want to see more improvement.

I think It should happen on UFC 119 because Cain hasent fought since UFC 110. But how bad is Brock hurt from Carwin?

Oh yes please make this happen at 119. I'm tired of waiting 6-8 months for title fights!!!!! BJ was the only one to man up and fight all the time. Much respect to Brock if he wants to fight quickly.

The what a champ part obviously. I mean what part of facing him makes you say what a champ. If Brock beats him I can understand.

You are not really making much since man..... How are u making so much out of such a simple statement? Its just what it says,

"Brock once again facing a top opponent. What a champion. "

Lol, u are freaking me out here man. What are u talking about? I am saying he consistently faces strong opponents. What is so confusing about that sentence?

My bad homie let me break it down for you. I'm confused on why you are saying what a champion. Is it because he is facing top competition? Nevermind. Brock. What a champion haha. I just thought beating them would make you say what a champion not just facing top comp. If it was just facing top competion that made you say what a champ, Jardine would be the greatest of all time. That dude got put through the ringer.

Yeah, Brock deserves no respect for strolling in to the sport with no experience and dominating at the highest level in the world. It's Fedor who is the great champion, because... Eh...

All the idiots have predicted him to lose every single time, the only time they were right was when the Ref gave it to them. Cain will be talked up now, he's amazing, then when Lesnar beats him it will be more tired excuses.

I'd say even if he wasn't out there was no way he was "intelligently" defending himself. He just curled in the fetal position...It should have been called in my opinion

Someone needs to break it down for you that blocking most of the shots with his arms would constitute intelligent defense? You'd make a horrible Ref. If he was hurt he wouldn't have stood up so easily with the 2nd most powerful wrestling MMA fighter ever on his back.

Cain well rounded another level of fighter very experiences and don't under estimated his KO power and cardio ,so what's up with your boy Lesnar,if Shane punches more accuracy and harder would be another story .imo

I don't underestimate his power, he has HW power. Nothing compared to Shane's power. And, if Shane landing on the button over and over won't put Lesnar out, Cain can't do it.

His only chance may well be a submission, another toe-hold might be the only way anyone can do it..
