Kenny Florian talks about improving his wrestling ahead of UFC 118
Posted on July 12, 2010, 09:02 AM by Daniel CassidyWith just a few weeks until he meets Gray Maynard, Lightweight contender Kenny Florian is working to improve on his wrestling. The winner of this match is expected to face the winner of Bj Penn vs Frankie Edgar, also on the same card. Despite having two previous title shots, Kenflo has never worn the belt. While Maynard's bread and butter is his wrestling back ground, Kenny is well known for his Muay Thai and striking, and will look to keep the udefeated Maynard standing.
Speaking to the Boston Herald, Kenny told them:
"My best striking performances have always been when I've been working with Peter (Welch) the most," Florian said. "Striking always comes from footwork and Peter really stresses that. It takes a little while to get it down but each training camp I see more and more improvements.
I feel that I've evolved a lot since the time when I fought another wrestler with similar skills, Sean Sherk. I feel that this is coming at a great time in my career," Florian said. "I'm ready for a challenge and I really consider it the biggest fight of my career, the biggest challenge of my career."
Florain vs Maynard will feature on the main card of UFC 118, set to go down on August 28, 2010 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.

hahaha why is this fool on the main wall, go play dress up kenny!!!!
What's wrong with Kenny? He's a smart exiting fighter that finishes fights
Go cheer for LnP Maynard then, the most boring fighter in the light weight division. I hope he tries that with Kenny and Florian takes his arm home for a trophy.
Sprawl and brawl KenFlo!!!
Everytime I see Kenny I wonder how many guys hes surprised when they said "Im gonna kick this dork's ass" He just doesnt look the part, though he can fight.
Go Kenny! Add another Rear naked choke finish to your resume =]
I like both these fighters; they are both solid, show up (in shape) to fight and give it their all.
With that said, I'll take Maynard. I think this power and wrestling will be too much for K-Flow, who, if he was smart, should probably drop to 145 (I think he's too small for 155), but then again, Jose Aldo is down there.
Probably the best thing K-Flo could do for his career would be to pack on some muscle/weight. I just think he's too small. He needs to get bigger.
Kenny via submission. The guy has brilliant BJJ.
this is going to be a tough fight for both fighters. I see gray taking this fight , even though I am a florian fan.
I like Gray too,but i see Kenny pulls off this fight.
i think kenny will be just to fast and technical for grey but if grey can take him down and hold him there kenny may lose
IDK. It gets forgotten a lot but Kenny is really good on the ground. As good as Grey is as wrestler, I think Kenny has good enough BJJ to cancel out that advantage. On the feet you have to give it to Kenny. I think it is going to be a battle but I think that in the end Kenny is going to get a submission.
