Kenn Florian set to fight Evan Dunham, most likely at UFC 127
Posted on October 8, 2010, 05:48 AM by Daniel CassidyFollowing his first career loss to veteran Sean Sherk, Evan Dunham will look to get his title aspirations back on track in his next bout, confirmed to be against former Lightweight contender Kenny Florian. MMA Live regular Kenny made the announcement live on air yesterday, telling viewers:
"We verbally agreed to fight Evan Dunham, which is great news. Phenomenal opponent, very excited about it... looks like it may happen on Super Bowl weekend."
With both fighters still regarded amongst the top 10 Lightweights despite each one coming off a loss, a win for either could see them pushed back into title contention, in a seriously stacked division.
Florian is currently 14-5 overall. despite going 2-2 in his last 4 fights, nobody should take "Kenflo" lightly, as he has proved time and time again just how good he is, especially in his recent dismantling of Takanori Gomi. Despite being a contender in the Lightweight division for so long, Florian has lost both times he has fought for the title, and in his last bout (where the winner would receive a title shot) he dropped a unanimous decision to Gray Maynard. This led to UFC President Dana White accusing him of choking in big fights.
For Dunham, while many will question the judges scores that gave him his first career loss, he must now move on. Overall he is 13-1 and shows much promise, since his upset wins over Efrain Escuedero and Tyson Griffin. He holds a black belt in BJJ, and also posses heavy hands, as he showed in his fight with Sherk. Despite arguing that he won the fight with Sherk, with many fans agreeing, he now has to come back from his first loss against a tougher opponent in Florian.
Expected to go down at UFC 127, this fight will be a healthy addition to the already stacked Superbowl weekend card. Other fights expected to feature on that card include Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort, Jon Jones vs Ryan Bader and Forrest Griffin vs Rich Franklin.

now this is an extremely hard fight to call... u cannot give any edge to any fighter in any position of this fight... well not a big enough edge to be a fight ender
hopefully there won't be any injuries!!!
this fight is great, i was hoping they would make this match up, Florian is great but I hope Dunham wins, hes young and exciting adn really well-rounded
I agree that BJJ and striking is even, but I think Dunham has better wrestling and will win the decision unless Ken-Flo cuts him up
Exactly what I was thinking.
i agree with the wrestiling aspect, but dunham cant be too far ahead kenflo is a tristar now and focusing on wrestiling alot more.. but i think kenny has better BJJ hes a very technically sound grappler, nothing fancy just smooth
yes you can, dunham
that looks like one kickass card
holy shit, card of the frickin century!!!
That strikes me as a potentially amazing fight.
Silva vs Belfort, Florian vs Dunham, Jones vs Bader(!!!) and Griffin vs Franklin. What else you can wish for?? Looks like very stacked card. Great!
i wasnt aware all that was on the card, god damn.
Really good fight, one of those fights I know is going to be entertaining and I really don't care who wins.
I've been a Florian fan since the show and would like him to get back on track but this kid Dunham could be the future of 155. It's a pick'em fight which is probably the earlier candidate for FOTN on a stacked card.
such a stacked card but like always there will probably be a couple injuries and then the card turns to just another card.
All these fights on the same card = awesome.
I just hope the right Ken-Flo shows up, not the guy that laid down for the Bully.
Evan got robbed.
ufc 127 should be good i hope Franklin wins i think hes one of the most underrated fighters just because of his lack of a tough guy attitude
Dunham
i think kenflo needs to study his opponent well and he should have a back up plan if his prepared strategy fails...dunham is a good fighter but if kenflo can device a good strategy, kenflo can win...but if he fights like what he did against maynard, sorry....
