Keith Kizer: Chael Sonnen never applied or approved for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)Posted on November 18, 2010, 05:57 AM by Anton Gurevich
Sonnen fought Nate Marquardt in Nevada this past February, after the Okami fight, so I called Keith Kizer, Executive Director of the Nevada commission. According to Kizer, Sonnen never applied or was approved for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Not in February or any of his previous fights in Nevada. Before the Marquardt fight, he applied and was approved for Soma/carisprodol (a muscle relaxer recently banned completely by WWE because it can cause intoxication while others don't and are more effective) for sleep as long as he didn't take it the night before and doxycyline (an antibiotic) for acne. - Cage Side Seats
SBNation blog Cage Side Seats dig deep in Chael Sonnen's possible defense for December 2nd hearing in front of the California State of Athletic Commision. Sonnen is expected to present a Testosterone Replacement Therapy as an argument for getting a positive steroids test after his UFC 117 bout against Anderson Silva, however, according to NSAC Official Keith Kizer, the Oregonian never applied for approved for TRT. This way or another, we'll have to wait for December 2nd to see what kind of explanation Chael Sonnen gives in front of the CSAC.
