Junior dos Santos plans to knockout Brock Lesnar at UFC 131

Top Heavyweight contender, Junior dos Santos, discusses his experience as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 13, as well as his upcoming match-up with Brock Lesnar.  Dos Santos says he is happy to be a part of the show and looks forward to proving he is the division's top contender when he meets Lesnar at UFC 131.

Dos Santos was initially granted a title shot following his unanimous decision victory over Roy Nelson at UFC 117.  However, after learning that the Heavyweight Champion, Cain Velasquez, would be sidelined for much of the year with a torn rotator cuff, the Brazilian opted to risk his position as top contender by taking a coaching position opposite Brock Lesnar on TUF 13.  Dos Santos and Lesnar will go head to head at UFC 131 in June, and if victorious, "Cigano" will get his long awaited crack at the Heavyweight title.

    Lets hope he KO's Lesnar

im sick of his hype even after Cain TKO his ass!

    in the first round.

Dana still keeps kissing his ass, im sure he will find a way to excuse Lesnar if he losses again to keep saying his on the top , one of the best in the entire World bla bla bla.

Dos Santos is a cool guy, and an excellent fighter!

    he deserves his title fight!

jds winning by ko is extremely possible, but we have to see how good his takedown defense is,

brocks one dimensional but his wrestling is phenomenal,

if he keeps jds down and pound him or control him, he might take this,

but if jds is able to get back up to his feet or have good takedown defense, a ko is possible

TKO Maybe think brock would have to get sledge hammer to the mush for that. you wouldnt know for sure but if carwin couldnt do it then i dont reckon jynior could but you never know...

No prizes for guessing what Dos SAntos wants to do lol

The fight with Roy Nelson with frustrating. Anyone else would have been KTFO but Nelson's head was just too hard even for JDS

In Nelson vs Lesnar I'd put my money on Nelson. His the more experienced, has greater skill and has a better jaw.

just because Roy and survive that beatin he got from JDS dosnt mean he can take it again. He may ahve had a lucky night, didnt get caught on the button or something. anyway roy has nothing to do with it. JDS has actual striking, brock just has the power to put a fighter away with a single punch. Brocks wrestling lookd terrible against Cain, JDS td looked great against nelson..........the way it looks JDS has the upper hand.

I agree - JDS needs to expect the unexpected. I don't care for Lesnar but he is a remarkable athlete and learns fast. I was shocked that he used an arm triangle on Carwin!

JDS has to practice his take down defence by getting taken down by some big footballl players lol anything is possible, this fight is either going to end by ground and pound tko by brock or a possible ko or tko by JDS or brock can pull a huge upset and ko jds! whatever happens i dont think this fight will go all 3 rounds..

I don't think so much about getting taken down...With Brock's size/athleticism a takedown is pretty much a guarantee, it's getting back up is the main thing JDS has be able to do. I think that's what turned it around for Velasquez when he faced Lesnar - it may have discouraged Brock to continue with his game plan and of course the onslaught of punches that Velasquez delivered - we may see the same thing with JDS.

i agree, i see this fight going pretty much the same way as the cain fight. lesnar will go for a takedown right from the begging, probly get it, dossantos will get up ( i garauntee brock wont be able to hold dossantos down) this may repeat a few times, with lesnars confidence dropping fast. and then dossantos will blast him on the feet until brock crumples to the floor, just like all the helpless dear hes murderd.

Thats my thoughts as well... JDS looked good against Roy Nelson, but Brock's double leg is different. Even Cain, an accomplished wrestler, was taken down. The key was that he was able to use his wrestling ability to get right back up and attack... So can JDS stop the takedown? And if not, is his wrestling good enough to get back up with a guy like Brock on top? Can't wait to find out...

The main thing fighters should have in mind when fighting Lesnar is to stay calm if he gets them down. His ground and pound is weak.

Just look at Randys face after their fight, just a little swelling. His not gonna knock any one out with his hammerfists and the referee won't stop the fight if you just keep calm and stay active under him, and get up.

The stoppage in the fight with Randy was justified because Randy didn't defend himself, but if you compare the damage Brock did to Randy to the damage Bigfoot did to Fedor you see my point.

How many KO's does Brock have?? He pretty much dominated Randy, Mir and Herring, but could not get a knock out. And not one of them looked like they got ground and pounded on by a 265lbs guy. They panicked because they had this big guy laying on top of them. What they didn't realize was that he didn't do much damage. Both Cain and Carwin never panicked, they stayed cool and weathered the storm. Carwin ran out of gas and made a mistake. But not Cain.

yeah really. some people cut and bruise more easily than others. that's why so many of Chael Sonnens fights, he looks worse than the guy he was beating up the whole time. I have the same problem myself, with getting cut. But anyway, Joe Rogan described it perfectly when he said Brock held Frank Mir down and beat his face to chop meat. Weak gnp my ass. Mir was a mess after a very short time of getting punched. Brock's skills are not exactly well rounded yet. But it's for sure that he's powerful with everything he does.

And for the record i do think JDS has plenty good chance of winning this fight. I just also think Brock does too. I would make the odds 50 50 on this one. So many people write off brock after his last fight. But he has a long way to go and improve.

TKO's ain't no KO's. And neither Randy or Mir got more than a 3 week suspension from the committee, the minimum for a TKO.

Whipe the blood away and that isn't bad. Atleast not considering he had a 265lbs dude on top of him for almost 2 rounds.

"Especiall since the hardest shots were landed directly on his temple."

That is just my point, usually a good hard shot too the temple is a KO, especially from a dude Brocks size.

Well that's just like your opinion, dude.

    You always have two choices.

    1. You can agree with me

    2. You can be wrong

In this case time will prove you wrong. Brock won't get a title shot, and he will come to understand his limitations and either leave the world of mma or get cut. Probably leave.

If Brock loses, he will continue to train and get better. He'll pick up a good striking coach or coaches, surround himself with the right sparring partners and continue to strive to get better. He won't leave the game simply because he's weak in one aspect of the game. And Dana won't cut Brock either. He's the cash cow of the UFC at the moment. Half the people love Brock and want to see him succeed. The other half hate him and want to see him fail. So no matter what the outcome of his fight, people will be watching and waiting in anticipation and that adds up to monster dollar signs. Zuffa didn't get to the top of the MMA empire by making foolish business decisions.

U sure have the right to throw that in my face then. That I won't deny.

And if that happens I hope it is because Brock has evolved and does something to convince me that he is more than a big bully. That would be great for the sport of mma.

But I've gone out on a limb with my statements because I'm certain JDS is the better, wiser fighter.

It would be great to see a Brock that is a fighter that young fighters can watch and learn from. But right now that isn't the case. Or pehaps I've just missed what they can learn from watching Brock fight?

The key to this fight won't be whether or not JDS can defend the takedown or whether Brock has a good chin, it'll be whether or not Brock runs away when he gets punched in the face.

people who think Brock doesn't have a chin are stupid, he has one of the best chins in the HW division, his problem is being able to stay focused when getting hit, he has been hit by Shane and Cain and not been KOd, which when you look at the there previous fights is very impressive.
