Junior dos Santos: I would love to KO Cain Velasquez
Posted on September 4, 2011, 10:23 PM by Trent Reinsmith
Junior dos Santos will face Cain Velasquez in the only televised fight on the UFC’s first card on FOX television. Velasquez’s UFC heavyweight title will be on the line during the five round fight.
Dos Santos is riding an eight fight winning streak with seven of those wins coming with the UFC. Five of those seven fights have ended in stoppages, four via TKO, one via submission. His last two fights have gone the distance, with dos Santos earning unanimous decision victories over Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin.
His opponent, Velasquez is unbeaten in his career, going 9-0 with seven of those wins coming in the UFC. Velasquez has only gone the distance once in his career, earning a unanimous decision over Cheick Kongo in that bout.
Dos Santos recently discussed his game plan for the upcoming fight, saying, “For sure, Cain's going to try to take me down. I would agree with you that that would be the conventional wisdom. In my game, I always look for the knockout. I'm going to look for it against Cain. I would love to knock out Cain Velasquez. But I'm going to be ready for wherever the fight winds up. The truth is, you guys haven't really seen my ground game yet. If Cain Velasquez takes me down 10 times, I'm going to get up 10 times. I'm not sure Cain is going to be able to take 10 of my punches.” – For complete interview with Junior dos Santos, visit USA Today.

Cigano!! Saw him pepper Carwin live. I think he'll take it if he doesn't gas. Cain is a legit fighter with great cardio. The longer this fight goes, the better Cain's chances are I think. JDS is gonna want to avenge Nog's loss for him.
And on a sidenote, Noguiera definitely needs a re-match with Mir!!
I'd love to see JDS KO cain too.Cain is alot of hype and people only get on him because they love to hate on brock so much.
Lmfao plz explain how Cain's skill are all hype. I don't know how out-boxing NOG and out-wrestling is hype
out-wrestling Lesnar*
Nog's clearly....CLEARLY in his prime so that win was seww impressive. I still don't even know what happened in the brock fight, but really randy couture outwrestled brock despite a 60lb weight disadvantage which is much more impressive.
Not only that, but like i said majority of people only think cain is awesome cos he beat brock who they claim sucks....
Mighty bright.
Well NOG managed to KO Schaub so idk how out-of-his prime he is. Nice comeback to the Brock fight btw, "I don't know what happened." And Brock still took Randy down and held him down. Brock didn't come close to doing that to Cain. And I don't see how Randy having a "more impressive" showing has to do with Cain's skill.
Idk who you're talking to but as I far as I know I don't know that many people that think Brock sucks. If people really thought that Brock sucked then they would think Cain beating him wouldn't be much of an accomplishment and wouldn't be praising his skills.
Who's the real bright one here....
Good points but i also wonder if JDS can take 10 of Cain's punches? Lesnar could'nt ..... gonna be a fun fight.
Congo could...so could that other guy who got stopped fast....
Soooo much hype
Ben Rothwell did; He wasn't rendered unconscious or anything like when he fought Arlovski. The ref was only looking for Ben's safety.
both fighters has 1 punch knockout so I don't think either one of them would be willing to take any.
One thing is for sure, this will not go to a decision.
this is what annoys me, to compare cains stand up do dosantos is like comparing dosantos wrestling to cains. sure cain looks like a good striker against brock lesnar or big nog (who litterally jumped into cains punches), but look at his fight with the only decsent striker hes fought, he got dropped multiple times, and if congo wasnt a retarded fighter who kept clinching, he could of ko'd cain. dosantos is waaayyyy better than congo in striking and everything else.
Is Congo retarded? I didnt know they let retarded people fight in the octagon
This guy is becoming ****y, just like bones and lesnar.
What is he supposed to say, "Cain is gonna knock my head off"?
There is a difference between being ****y and being confident in your abilities.
For example, Bones is confident, while Brock is ****y. Do I really need to go into detail?
I got Dos Santos doing just that.
if dos santos wins ill pierce my **** 3x
You must be one confident enigma
CIGANOOOO!!
Cain > JDS... TKO 2nd round.
Kinda sucks one of these guys has to win, im huge fans of both of them and cant decide who i want to win.
People need to give Cain some credit. No one thought he could beat Nog and when he did people started saying Nog was over the hill. No one thought he could beat Lesnar but when he did people started saying Lesnar just sucked. Same thing with JDS, if Cain wins people are just going to look for more excuses to hate on this guy. Pathetic.
Not taking away anything from Junior, if anyone can beat Cain it's probably him.
Anyway, can't wait for this fight, hope it lasts all 5 rounds.
If it goes five rounds, then either Cain or JDS can't finish a fight. It will be called a snoozefest with lay and pray if none of them sub or ko the other.
If Cain or JDS get a KO, then one of them got caught by a lucky punch.
If Cain or JDS lose, then they are bums who never had any talent in the first place.
Whoever wins, many will say Fedor or Overeem would have slaughtered them.
If Cain KO's JDS then JDS's standup is overrated, if JDS takes down Cain and GNP's him, then Cain's wrestling is overrated.
If the fight ends in the first round, it was too short, and did not really tell us anything about either the winner or the loser. If the fight last five rounds, the fight is too long and the fighter's were playing it safe and not engaging.
I am so bored with the absolute certainty of greenhorn MMA fans.
Yawn.
Right now, IMO, both fighters have a good chance to win. At fight time, one may dominate the other--but I see no way to be certain of the outcome given the records of both fighters.
I am 'positively' looking forward to this fight--and I will respect both the winner and the loser of this bout.
