Junior dos Santos: Cain Velasquez exposed Brock Lesnar's "weak chin"
Posted on April 19, 2011, 12:51 AM by Joey Santosus
While making a guest appearance on The MMA Hour, Junior dos Santos reaffirmed his intention to add Brock Lesnar to his long list of knockout victims when the two Heavyweights meet at UFC 131 in June:
"I think I'm faster than (Brock Lesnar), and I've got more experience inside the cage than him. He's a very good wrestler, a very strong guy, but I think that's not enough to be a complete UFC fighter (...) His fight against Cain Velasquez shows good things for me, because I think he's got a weak chin. If he tries to put me down – for sure, he will try – but I will get up and keep the fight (standing). That's my way to win the fight. I'm looking for the knockout all the time. - For more from Junior dos Santos' appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, visit MMAFighting.com
Undefeated in his six-fight UFC career, Dos Santos was initially granted a title shot following his unanimous decision victory over Roy Nelson in August. However, after learning that the division Champion, Cain Velasquez, would be sidelined for much of the year with a torn rotator cuff, the Brazilian opted to risk his position as top contender by taking a coaching spot opposite Lesnar on The Ultimate Fighter 13. In traditional TUF fashion, the two will square off following the show's conclusion, and should "JDS" emerge victorious, he will retain the right to challenge Velasquez upon his return.
UFC 131 is set to take place June 11th from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Lesnar vs. Dos Santos will headline the stacked card, while top Heavyweight contender Shane Carwin welcomes newcomer Jon Olav Einemo to the octagon in the co-main event.

that's what I'm talking about dos Santos, expose him even more, sent him back to the wwe, they miss him over there
I dont think brock has a weak chin. He seems like he doesnt like getting hit and needs to work on his head movement and overall striking. But i think jds will catch him and put him away by tko
Yeah right... we have seen Brock take a beaten from Carwin also and didn't get TKOed or KOed. JDS may KO him if he hits his chin right but I don't see that happening. I have a feeling Brock will change it up... Brock needs to throw more also, look what he did to Herring. He could also KO JDS if he's been working on his stand up. But I see TKO via GnP.by Brock.
Like you I don't think brock has a weak chin... just watch the Carwin fight... If Jds can stay on his feet he will win for sure... but I think it s not that easy because Brock takedowns are really better than Nelsons
lesnar ... hope fully you have been training with a good boxing coach like i said when you got ko d by cain !
He definately does not have a weak chin. His problem is his reaction to getting hit, he needs to work on composing himself when he's being punched. He acts like a monkey on hot coals after the 1st punch....
i say him vs cain he got owned n yea that carwin fight should of bin a tko but brocks a monster a animal he would of keep fighting that cain fight like how he had a cut but i bet the big dumb ass wanted to keep fighting a tko is meant to stop u from getting beatin stupid and that is just what happened to brock vs carwin n cain
This fight is going to be sick, can't wait....JDS's TDD is gonna b tested big time no way Brock stands with him
Brock doesn't have a weak chin, he's just afraid to get hit in the face. Big Difference!
Brock has accomplished a lot in the short amount of time he's in MMA. Sure the WWE has something to do with it, but the guy does fight on his own in that cage.. he accomplishes his wins by himself and does deserve respect for that.
And the bullshit about Brock being big and strong, and saying thats the reason why he wins... IF Fedor was 6,5" would we give him the same amount of credit? NO, at least not as much as he is getting now. Fedor is given a huge amount of respect because he's fighting bigger opponents that are arguably stronger and maybe faster.
Brock is the exact opposite, YES he is big and strong and dwarfs most of his opponents, but being that big does come with alot of disadvantages, No one ever heard of the saying: the bigger they are the harder thy fall? The guy is Huge but is still incredible fast and athletic, he has good cardio and wighs in at 260+ lbs.. It takes a lot out of a man to be that big and heavy and still posses those skills. So thats enough reason for me to respect Brock.
what happened when shane carwin hit him for the first time?? dropped.. when cain hit him dropped.. if junior hits him hes gunna get koed.. i still respect brock i jus believe he has a soft jaw too
Well Carwin landed about 60 shots to Brock's head and he didnt go out....Cain landed like 20 shots and he didnt go out either, Lesnar has a solid chin just covers up when he gets hit seeing that hes isnt used to it
yea true but it still proves he has a soft jaw i dont see him going out of the first with junior dos santos.. if he does and beats him mad props but he will have to deal with cain AGAIN
He did beat Carwin
Haha ususally the Fedor fan brings up Fedor. Not the Brock fan haha! And... of course he gets credit because he's smaller. That's part of what makes him so amazing!
I think it has more to do with conditioning than anything. Impacts over and over again make the bones denser and dulls nerves. I'm also curious of how he would take repeated low kicks. It be embarrassing to see him go for a take down only to eat a hard knee.
i agree with this completly ! i've been saying this for the longest time , he always ducks and starts running abckwards when he gets hit. he's scared to take the hits so he just covers up and falls back . but to all the ppl saying he is not ah mma fighter look who he has beat all very good fighters .
I know fights start on the feet but when it's a striker against a grappler I always back the wrestler because it's way easier to score a takedown than a knockout blow.
Junior's probably not as good off his back as Cain is, and I can't see him springing straight back up when taken down like the Cain fight.
I think Brock will sub him. Either way I just want the fight to be over so we can have an ultimate fighter series that doesn't induce comas
brock doesnt have a weak chin he has been hit with some really good shots by some hard punchers and never went out. he just doesnt know how to handle getting punched it may be something he can improve on or it may not but one thing is for sure we are going to find out.
I think Cain did expose something... Brock isn't as big and bad as he says he is. If you can get past his wrestling, he is very beatable regardless of his size. But that's a big if. No one can deny his skill in that area and with his size and strength, its a huge obstacle to overcome.
if lesnar didn`t start to train getting accustomed to hits, well, one thing is for shure: the upcoming ko gifs will be hilarious as the last ones...
I do think that JDS meant by "weak chin" is Brock's fear of punches in his face. He still learns English. I doubt tht JDS knocks Brock out, but he can really hurt, cut him. JDS is big and strong enough not to get down.
Dear lord, forgive Brock for his transgressions...for he write checks that his face cant cash!!!!!
Screw all the haters, War Lesnar
Screw all the haters, War Lesnar
Sounds like JDS missed the Carwin fight. And i don't think Brock was really rocked or in trouble of getting KO'd by either Shane or Cain. He was just turtled up.
jesus christ their is some idiots in here, Carwin was beat by his cardio not brock, he was legless in the second as he said himself, shit most of ye on here would of being able to beat carwin in that second round he was so tired, and listen brock is going to be exposed once again, dis fight is a mismatch more than the cain fight Santos Stand-up is miles better, his takedown defense is excellent, he has tons more experince, his jiu jitsu is miles better, and his speed and ring movement is better and most of important his cardio is not miles but light years better now all ye brock nut huggers go put yer wages on brock to win, thats right cause ye know yer leaving in fastasy world if ye think brock wins dis
Thanks for posting a bunch of shit a MMA novice would know....
I'm a Brock & Cain fan. Gassing has got to be the worst reason for losing. Especially in a huge title fight. MMA fighters know how important cardio is. It's not Brocks fault Shane had no legs.
Lol at you thinking JDS has a huge edge in speed, movement, or cardio. I'll give you the others though. And i don't think Brock wins this, just calling it how it is.
Don' t get me wrong ! I don't think Dana stupid enough to brought Lesnar
back to the fight for humiliate him ....Lesnar definitely changes gameplan and learned from mistake would give JDS a lot more of troubles.imo
I'm gonna have to disagree. Brock much like Tito is not a fan of being hit in the face. Also just because Roy couldn't take you don't does not mean that Brock won't take you down. If Brock does not get the TD he's in trouble, but if he can get the TD it's a pounding I see put on JDS. None of us really know how good JDS's ground game is, he did get submitted earlier in his game so who knows.
all ye idiots talk about lesnar chin? when his biggest problem is his cardio, even if brock takes him down in the first and holds him their , santos will be standing in the second and brocks cardio will be ran out if he's not already tko'd or ko'd in the first, only way brock wins this if santos injure's himself
Bass Rutten said it best, Brock probably spars with people who are not allowed to hit em back, he has good chin, all the massive punches his taken and never got KO, i just agree, he doest know how to react when he gets hit, Brock needs to seek freddie roach or go to the Netherlands and go train at Golden Glory Gym, he needs to get out his back yard training facility, should only train there when his not schedule to fight, but when he is, go to an actual camp where you going to learn from multiple people, have solid sparing matches, and continue to push himself, nothing wrong with training by yourself but improvement like the one he needs, he has to train with different people for faster results..
