Junior Dos Santos is working hard on his wrestling and gives his thoughts about main event at UFC 121
Posted on October 25, 2010, 02:56 PM by tazJDS has already started training for Cain Velasquez even though their is no date for the fight yet.
here is what he had to say about his trainingin a interview with Tatame Magazine
“I’ve spend a little more than a month on the United Stated training on Alliance and on Minotauro’s new gym, in San Diego… I’ve trained a lot with Phil Davis, who fights on UFC and is a great wrestler, four-time All-American… High level. I’ve trained with Brandon Vera, who’s great, really tough, used to fight heavyweights. The trainings were great back there, I was very happy, but I have to go home, charge my batteries, clean things up here (laughs)… When I know the date for sure, I’ll go there to keep the trainings.”
This is what he had to say about Lesnar vs Velasquez
“It was a very exciting fight to watch, I was there and it was beautiful to see. The willingness of Brock Lesnar as the fight began, as he went for it… But, in my opinion, he got tired. Cain Velasquez was smart enough and showed superiority, was calm enough to wait for the right moment and chance the picture and win by TKO.”
“I was surprised, everybody was. A title fight usually has a very cautious beginning, it’s a five-round fight, and so you start being careful so that you won’t get tired. I think he tried to really go for it, he knew that Velasquez’s conditioning was amazing. He did a great beginning, took him down and applied a flying knee, but I think he got tired.”

if he couldnt finish nelson he wont finish cain
i agree
You can't just say that because he didnt finish one fighter, he destroyed everyone else hes faced including Werdum, Gonzaga and Cro Cop...I'm going with Dos Santos on this one mainly because hes one of my fav fighters and also if the fight stays on their feet long enough I think Dos Santos will get him
JDS will be the next HW champ
any fighter can finish any other figte in MMA. It only takes one hail mary to right spot on the chin and it dont matter who you are you are out of it. I think Cain will beat JDS but JDS could finish Cain. People said Cain would never finish Brock and look what happened, Anything can happen in the octagon so its foolish to say a fighter cant be finished. Its unlkely sometimes but never impossible.
I knew Cain would finish Brock. A lot of people picked Cain TKO
youre right, but i see jds getting taken down with ease the whole fight yeah he showed good tdd against nelson but nelson is not cain if cain can take down lesnar, jds is spending a lot of time on his back, it really doest matter who youy train with it just doesnt compare to experience.
just an observation. u wouldnt pick cain to win.
I don't see JDS competing with Cain. Cain is all around the more rounded fighter and will take JDS down and TKO him just like he did to Lesnar. I see Cain holding the belt for awhile.
I'm thinking this fight stays on the feet. JDS has great TDD.
Since Cain hardly got any damage in the Lesnar fight, i'm hoping a date is set for this match up fairly quickly.
JDS showed in the Nelson fight that he was unwilling to do anything but trade punches. He needs to step away from his bread and butter and become a more well rounded fighter when he competes. We always hear about his well rounded training, so lets see it. Problem is, Cain can strike, and strike well. Just as good as JDS if not better. It will come down to wrestling in my opinion where Cain has the advantage.
