Josh Koscheck to make return at UFC 139 possibly at MiddleweightPosted on August 21, 2011, 09:16 PM by Trent Reinsmith
The last time Josh Koscheck stepped into the Octagon he was facing Georges St-Pierre. That December, 2010 fight was for St-Pierre's UFC welterweight title. After five rounds Koscheck had been hit with 55 St-Pierre jabs, the end result being a shattered right orbital bone. Koscheck had surgery to repair the damage sustained at UFC 124.
Koscheck took to twitter today to announce that his return to the UFC will take place at UFC 139, "My next fight is in SAN JOSE cali. NOV 19th Good chance fighting at 185lbs. :) should know real soon who."
The fight card will take place at San Jose's HP Pavillion and is set to be headlined by a UFC Heavyweight Title fight that will see Cain Velasquez make his first defense against Junior dos Santos.
In July, Koscheck said that he only wanted one fight at middleweight, tweeting, "FYI I only want 1 fight at 185 then back to WW. :) just something real fun for the fans." At that time speculation was that he wanted to face either Chris Leben, who he competed against in season one of "The Ultimate Fighter" or Stephan Bonnar, a Light Heavyweight Koscheck had a recent greviance with in regard to his likeness appearing on shirts produced by Bonnar's company.
Leben is booked to fight Mark Munoz on November 5 at UFC 138 in Birmingham, England. Bonnar was booked to face Karlos Vemola on the recent UFC on Versus 5 card, but was forced from the card due to injury.
