i'll give Kos a chance that he can beat GSP...the way I see it that Kos, Fitch and Shields have the best chance at beating GSP at WW, Penn maybe if he beats Fitch, I include Kos because he has KO power in his hands which Fitch and Shields dont and he has great wrestling to keep the fight standing or wrestle with GSP but I think GSP is just too quick n too good to get caught n his wrestling is even if not better than Kos's so I dont see him losing but Kos can pull of the upset

Shields couldn't even beat Kampmann, he only won by bent judging. Fitch has a chance though.

Bent judging based on what? Something the newer generation of fans have decided? And no I am not talking about blind, ignorant judges like the ones who robbed Nam Phan... I am talking about people complaining about grappling, which is a major part of MMA. Always has been, always will be. Kampmann lost the fight man, it is what it is. I am a fan of both fighters and would have been happy for either guy, but Kampmann let him wrestle his way to a decision. Had Martin let his hands go a little more, than we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. On the other hand, anyone who actually knows Jake Shields knows that he was not himself that night. So who knows what would happen if they met again.

Agree with the fact that so many are getting hung up on grappling as almost a form of "cheating", which is ridiculous. If one fighter with superior grappling skills takes another down who is less skilled than he and wins the fight in that fashion, then the superior grappler often gets a bad rap and the comments like "lay and pray" come out. Let's all remember that grappling is the BIGGEST part of MMA, whether it be BJJ, wrestling, or in another form like Judo. We all like to see flashy striking, but MMA without grappling is not MMA. Anyone who has ever grappled for real will tell you that in no way, shape, or fashion is it boring. It is a lot of hard work and strategy.

This is true and I have George winning this fight also but Koscheck has something those two don't which is wrestling that is pretty close to GSP's. I am cheering on GSP and believe he will win in dominant fashion but Kos definitely could pull a KO upset. That said, in response to the guy above, if Koscheck does win I will still not be a fan. I appreciate his skill but I do not like the way he presents himself.

And I'm really tired of people like you who know nothing about fighting and game plans and yet keep complaining about the performance of the best P4P MMA fighter in th world and a 2 or 3 time national athlete of the year in Canada. For GSP, winning is more important than anything else. This is his livelihood. We saw again and again with Fedor, Lesnar, Machida: one loss can overnight blow away all your achievements and put you in disfavor with the fans, the promotion, and the media...I personally believe that GSP is an exciting fighter: just watch again his fighters with Sarra (2), Matt Hughes, or even Kostchek. More than an exemplary athlete, GSP is a respectful person and a great role model. SO, stop complaining and enjoy the fights...

if you root for anyone besides GSP youll get 4 paragraphs of how bad a person you are. Sure GSPs the favorite, I think he'll win. But his in public persona doesnt make me really like him for any reason besides polite and timid in the spotlight. Theres just many fighters I like more simply because of their style....Shogun for one.

yes over the last couple of months! i been watching gsp! he seems happy too defend! he dont like trash talk to pump up a fight! unlike koscheck! but koscheck has grown up alot! he always was a good wrestler! gsp too! now here is the problem i see with gsp! yes gsp can last 5 rounds! and is probably the stronger wrestler! and koscheck knows that! so here is were i think gsp will lose .in the stand up! gsp has never liked to be hit in his soft spots! his chin! i do think koscheck has a better boxers chance than gsp! if gsp does lose! it will be ko tko! koscheck has cain trianing with him! and we all know how cain is a finisher!

you kidding me? penn is a far superior boxer than koscheck is and gsp stood and banged with him in their last fight, not every round, but he did out strike penn. george has this uncanny ability to time his shots so they sneak passed your line of sight, zig zagging through the blind spots and strike your face. now if hes been working on applying power to this shots, then koscheck will go to bed.

but gsps going to win this by an unexpected headkick.

First - another MMA "expert" conducting an interview on ESPN; when will they get with the program?

    Two - "The Big Difference"

GSP = Game plane / Koscheck = No Game Plane; Just Wing It

..."I come in to hurt you. I come in to knock you out"...is not a game plane, it's a hope. And against a fighter like GSP, that's a bad idea. It also speaks to laziness and not being well rounded.

Three - doesn't he look like crap? Come on Koscheck, you're fighting for the title and you're doing ESPN, put on something other then your best T-shirt; represent the sport with a little class, man.

Does it not show that not having a game plan and just "winging it" he has the ability to fight from anywhere? I think it shows a great deal of confidence that he can make an adjustment while fighting. I believe all great fighters show that. Nothing wrong with a game plan and GSP does that, but one of these times somebody is going to do something different and GSP is going to be confused. Machida is a very good example. You can't teach 'changing on the fly' type of a thing, it's natural.

It's kinda like school. There will always be kids that study so hard and take all the notes etc. And they get a good grade. And then there are the kids that just listen and soak all the information in. Rather then regurgitate the info, they can apply it.

    thats just my opinion.

I think Kos is tryin to do with GSP the same thing he did with Daley. Talk talk talk sayiing he is going to stand up and knock him out, BUT i have a feeling the first thing he is going to do is gonna shoot for a takedown. I dont think trying to strike with GSP is wise, cause as soon as you commit yourself to a strike ur on ur back, Kos's gameplan should be to put GSP on his back i think thats the only way he can be beat. With that said, GSP is gonna own Kos on Saturday.

Also the reason Matt Serra won was because he came in like he had nothing to lose, he set the pace, he attacked the body early with punches than caught GSP. That was a good gameplan. Agressive early but with body shots so takedowns are harder.

Agree. I think Kos will strike to the body more. Will have a lower stance and probably throw more uppercuts. Leg kicks would be suicide. Kos has also nothing to lose. i think the best thing Kos can do is take GSP down sit on top of him for 3 rounds, make him wrestle and tire. Then go for the (T)KO in the 4th, 5th round.

Yah, I personally don't imagine the Serra gameplan working FOR KOS against GSP, just because they are built differently. Kos does have dangerous standup, but in terms of hands, he isn't that threatening, and it wouldn't really matter if he was. Either way I think the gameplan to beat GSP has to be to put him on his back, or set up some kind of uppercut or knee for when u think he is going to shoot.

This is going to sound counter intuitive but the other thing Serra had going for him in that first fight was a much shorter reach. When some one is not used to fighting guys with that much of a reach "disadvantage" and the other fighter is good at getting on the inside and landing blows it can be very uncomfortable for the bigger guy who is used to more room when striking. That and a vicious overhand right make Serra a bad guy to stand with if you can't keep him away.

Yea that is 100% right. Not only do styles make matches, but you have to look at the physical composition of each fighter. BJ for example is built in a way similar to boxer with fast hand speed, Serra has a good build for a power puncher, and Kos is definitely built like a wrestler, but since he is a great athlete he has developed into a decent kickboxer too. He is basically a prototypical boxer/wresler type guy, and i think his weakness would be muay thai strikers in a standup sense. GSP isn't really build to throw good hands he is sort of a hybrid

The difference between Kos and the Hardy/Alves fights is that Kos CAN wrestle as well as knock people the f out. I hope this one lives up to the hype. I love a good upset as much as I love to see a champion defend his title again.

    Yeah RabbitPuncher you're completely right!

I mean if you ignore the fact that GSP beat Matt Hughes who's like a synonym for a wrestler (and he beat him twice, when he was in his prime) and if you ignore the fact that he brutally owned John Fitch, who is a well known grinder and control freak, but he couldn't control GSP at all. Yeah and you'd also have to ignore that he beat BJ Penn who has KO power in his hands and legs, as well as Thiago Alves.

Yeah if you ignore all of this you're completely right, Kos has a chance!!

Oh, please ignore the fact that Kos has NEVER fought in a 5 5-minute rounds, whereas GSP has done that 4 times already. Also, Kos was never in the main event. So, yeah, you'd pretty much have to ignore that too and assume his cardio could stand this and he won't get an adrenaline dump.

Should prob change your name to GSP fanboy, bro. Kos can do BOTH. You get that, right? I also didnt say he's a shoe in for the w, but he has a much better chance of being able to keep it standing then either Hardy or Alves did. That was my point. The Hughes, Penn, and Fitch fights are ancient history as far as these fighters evolutions are concerned. Both GSP and Kos have improved a great deal over the years. Like I said I love a good upset as well as a good title defense. Try and and be a bit more objective, Fanboy.

What makes this fight GSP's toughest? A knockout over Yoshida and what, he's a knockout artist all of a sudden? He's got two KO's; one back and 2005 and one back in 2008. The TKO of Hazzelet was in 2008 as well.

Josh, you will NOT knockout GSP. You will however, go into your hotel room after GSP makes you his bitch and hang yourself.
