According to MMAWeekly.com, Erik Koch will step up to face Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 147 in Brazil.
Earlier this week, UFC President Dana White spoke at UFC 148 press event in Rio abot the possibility of having Jose Aldo on the card, in light of the fact that the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen is now re-scheduled for July 7th.
Erik Koch is 13-1 in his MMA career, with 7 Submission and 3 KO/TKO victories. Koch's only loss came against Chad Mendes (via Decision), who was viciosly knocked out by Aldo at UFC 142.
At the age of 23, Koch is widely considered as one of the Top 5 Featherweights on the planet, with a clear potential to dethrone Jose Aldo. This will be Jose Aldo's third UFC Featherweight title defense.
UFC 147 is currently headlined by the long-anticipated rematch between Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva. The card will also feature the Heavyweight scrap between Fabricio Werdum and Mike Russow, as well as two TUF: Brazil Finale bouts.

would not say that, Aldo is great but he still has not fought all the best yet there is plenty of top 10 feather weights he has not fought yet!
Hatsu Hioki
Erik Koch
Dustin Poirier
Pat Curran
Marlon Sandro
all top 10 who he has never fought.
still a few challenges he has to face yet!
Even if Aldo obliterated the fighters you just named above, you'd still say that he hasn't fought the best yet. Some people, no matter you do, will never be satisfied.
Hioki turned down the fight with Aldo, not Aldo's fought.
It is not really on the fighter. Just some divisions are better stacked and have more talent then others. But he is still one of the best.
err.no i would not!
Koch is good but this proves the thinness of the FW division.
As usual I'm expecting Aldo to slaughter his opponent, especially a guy who wants to stand and strike.
When I say he wants to stand and strike I mean that is his gameplan, I'm not sure how long he'll want to strike for once he is actually in there.
Keith you comment way too much.
Not gonna deny it lol
Hioki should really be in Koch's place here. Hioki smartly wants to take more fights to get used to the cage (he showed a huge improvement after his first fight in the UFC) but really it is only delaying the inevitable.
IMO this is just a filler fight until Poirer or Hioki are ready for him but I honestly don't think any in the division will ever be ready for Aldo.
Jose is on that level of aggresive, destructive striking which I truly think only him and Anderson have reached in the UFC.
Anderson gets on that level when he drops his hands, loses all respect for his opponent, stands right in front of him and goes into the matrix style. Aldo gets that way too a lot fo the time but really only showed it in the Mendes fight, I think we will see him in the mode again against Koch the striker.
This will be Aldo easiest fight in The UFC so far... Just to easy.. Aldo shouldn't even be fighting Erik Koch.. Their is no one in that division who stands a chance against Aldo, and you all f@ck!ng know it... Especially the haters. pffffffffff.. Even Faber ran with his tail between his legs to another division looking for Cruz... lol...
The Only fighters that stand a chance against Aldo and might even beat him are at 155... Pettis, Edgar and even Miller... Those 3 have awesome skills and are small enough to drop to 145 and challenge Aldo... It is, what it is.. You can like it or you can weak it.
calm down bro. its just lowkick
you do realize that Koch is a high level striker
who actually trains with Pettis
i say Koch will be a good challenge for Jose
and a great fight looking forward to this
I think you left out Ben Henderson, you know the LW champ.
I left him out because Ben Henderson would never make 145... The Champ is to big, just like many others at 155..... Beside Ben Henderson has nothing to prove against Aldo... He is already the champ at 155..
Diego Nunes trains with Aldo.. That didn't meant he was going to beat Kenny Florian... Styles make fights.. Koch doesn't stand a chance against Aldo... Yet Pettis does......
desperate much Mr.White? I say yes! =D
