Jonathan Brookins wins TUF 12, defeats Michael Johnson by unanimous decision
Posted on December 4, 2010, 11:09 PM by Daniel CassidyJonathan Brookins defeated Michael Johnson in an action packed bout that saw both fighters leave everything inside the cage. In a series filled with Lightweight talent, both Michael Johnson and Jonathan Brookins rose to the top of the series, with both being coached by Georges St. Pierre. A win for Brookins now means he is the most recently crowned Ultimate Fighter, and the recipiant of the fabled six figure contract, with a bright future ahead. But with the loss for Johnson , a rosy future is still very possible, after battling his way to the final two of the show.
Round 1
Johnson lands a few heavy shots early, as Brookins remains composed by grabbing a single leg on the cage. Johnsons pushes off, landing some big shots. Johnson drops Brookins with some heavy shots, working his ground and pound, but Brookins stays calm. Johnson's stand up looks very dangerous, Brookins is out of his comfort zone. Again Johnson hits hard, looking for a TKO. Brookins is under big pressure. The two scramble to the mat as Brookins looks for the back as expected. A clear 10-9 for Johnson
Round 2
Brookins takes centre of the cage, as he gets the fight to the mat, landing some big shots on the ground. Brookins looks comfortable as he controls things while dropping bombs. Brookins is trying to work a crucifix, dropping heavy elbows. This round is a total departure from the last, as Brookins is dictating the fight, coming close to a finish. Johnson gets it back to the feet, but Brookins is trying to get it back down. Johnson throws some big elbows from a sprawl position. Brookins lands a very impressive single leg takedown. Brookins is looking for a Kimura from top half guard as the round ends. Possibly 10-8 Brookins
Round 3
Final round as both touch gloves. Brookins again grabs the single leg, rushing Johnson to the cage as he finishes the takedown. Brookins is again dominating this round, as he works a full mount against the cage. Johnson with a perfect sweep as they trade, but Brookins drags his opponent straight back to the mat. Brookins is dominating, as he drops big elbows from the top. The fight ends with Brookins on top. Another 10-9 for Brookins. The fight goes to the score cards, I call it 29-27, and the judges have it 29-28, 29-28 and 29-27 as Brookins wins.

How sad when you have to crack off about a post that is two words, long.
Out of curiosity 2 Drunk -to-get-it-up....what does that crack even mean? Could you even explain it?
...yap...yap...yap, little dog; never has anything of any value to say.
LMAO, 2drunk, you beat me to it i was going to say the exact same thing!
Way to be Windchung, keep readin that thesaures every night b4 u go to bed, its working wonders!
Shame to see that Johnson's cardio hasn't gotten better with a proper training camp and time to cut the weight. What camp is Johnson and does he have a proper diet guy?
Happy for Brookins thou, that kid has championship potential.
Johnson needs to get his cardio better but he is a good fighter and the ufc should keep him.
Johnson should have finished in round1 but didn't. Credit to Brookins for the way he came back though. Excellent performance.
No doubt we will see johnson again, he's exciting and with better cardio he can go a long way!
I'm happy brookins won tho, i think johnson almost needed this loss to focus his mind better and not feel invisible. (best motivation to train his cardio and skills)
Hands down, Chin Up. lol
I had my money on Brookins to get an early submission..Johnson really surprised me in that first round..i thought it was over a few times. I do think it was more of Brookin's lack of striking defense tho..He really needs to improve it in a serious way..his wrestling is top notch but someone with good striking like Evan Dunham would KO him..good fight tho both guys have a future and i can see both of them moving to 145.
Brookings' chin is so far out. I'm surprised he didn't get knocked out. He's gotta keep that thing tucked in.
I've also noticed that he also breathes a lot from his mouth, could be a deviated septum or something similar , but it increases his chances of getting hurt.
