I like "Bones" and i'm not going to deny that his the most talented guy at 205lb. But, it seems like this whole thing of being the "Fan's favorite fighter" is getting to him. I hate to say it but he kinda reminded me of "Spitsbing" and Hardy at the end of that video....

Agreed, the guy is getting a little too full of himself. I think Shogun is going to force feed Jones some humble pie.

I mean the guy has yet to face an elite striker and grappler in his career (in fact, he has been below average when coming to topics like stamina and striking accuracy) and now all the sudden he thinks he can take on the top dog?

At age 23, Shogun won the PRIDE Grand Prix and dismantled fighters like Ricardo Arona, Alistair Overeem, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Quinton Jackson.

    WAR SHOGUN indeed...

I don't know, I thought he was humble enough. I would label it "respectfully confident" which is what any fighter needs to be if they stand a chance against shogun.

It's called "personal confidence", and Jon Jones is as humble as they come. To compare him to that A**hole Bisping or Hardy is just plain stupid. Jones never has a bad thing to say about his opponents. He simply visualizes himself winning the fight, and that's why he makes the statement that he feels it is "already done", because in his mind, he has gone through the scenarios, and he will be victorious. It's the same thing he said and did with Bader. That's how he prepares for fights. He is not disrespectful, just confident in his abilities.

    Get a clue.

@doomsday. Im a fan of shogun but you have to remember that shogun is coming back fro another lay off and everyone says that ring rust is real. We have also seen what happened last time he came back from injury, he lost against forrest and won but struggled with grandad coleman. That could play a huge factor in the fight.

@cagerage. Did your mum leave your dad for an english man? reason i ask is you always slate the english fighters, it doesnt matter what it is, and again in you have in your text above. So its only the english fighters who ever say anything about an opponent. Did wand never have anything bad to say about cro cop, bisping and rampage. Did rampage never say anything about rashad and wand. Did rivera not say things about bisping. I could go on. Not everybody likes each other. And to add 1 more to the list, i dont like you.

CageRage - I agree with you. Confidence and humility are mutually exclusive and Jones is both.

Having said that, I think Shogun is going to prove to be too much for him at this point in his career and he will learn a lot from the experience.

Jon Jones had trouble boxing against 'Lay-N-Pray' Jake O'Brien, and you expect him to not even break a sweat aganst the best striker and grappler in the Light-Heavyweight division and one of the best Pound-for-Pound fighters on the planet? Ha.

You guys dont get his message i think. he was not bragging, he feels that it is his time and as a religious person that things happen in this time for a reason. Its also a good thing to visualize yourself winning even before the fight, it brings confidence and faith in what you're doing.

I'm sure Jones is not taking Rua lightly and respect his skills. Even if he's gotten a lil ****y, i think the guys at Jacksons are gonna put him right back on earth. So no worries, the kid's got a destiny and he's trying to live it.

Jon jones does have an ego problem and it has nothing to do with the video. He fights cawky he talks kawky being humble doesn't mean you don't picture yourself winning it's how you project yourself to the world. People who need to brag about themselves are usually reassuring themselves because they don't yet believe it. You don't hear gsp talk like that do you? Or even AS? I think their record shows you need to brag on yourself you prove it in the ring.

My personal feeling is he will be devoured if not by shogun (ring rust) but by machida. All fighters have their bad match up. I think machida's style is a much worse matchup. Even though he may not be the best in the division he has a style that plays to guys like jones.

I think if the shogun champ shows up than jones doesn't have a chance.

They should have given him griffin and rampage first so he could have a taste of real competition.

I guess Jones has not faced any 'real competition' so far in his career then? I agree with you about Rua and ring rust, but to suggest Jones does not warrant a title shot or hasnt faced real competition is ridiculous. Just because he makes his opponents look average at best does not mean they are chumps. he has beaten some decent names and all of them convincingly.

Thats the key tho "decent names". I think he is still one or two fights away from a title shot to be honest. I think it's too soon for him. He hasn't faced anyone Top 5 LHW yet and you cant argue that. Bader is good, top 10 even but I would not say top 5 at all. He should've faced someone like Griffin, Rampage or Machida after Bader but before his title shot. I mean I'd jump at the opportunity if I was him too so I don't blame him. But facing a top 5 would eliminate all these haters hes got

Decent names, but he didn't face decent names and win by a close decision. He fought decent names and dominated them, which I imagine is exactly what would happen if you sent Rua up against the same people.

so are you saying that if Rampage TKOs Matushenko, or beats Matt Hamil without a DQ and TKOs him that he will beat Jones? There is no way to tell. With decent names, fighting them simply puts u above them, not above or even in top 5. to be in top 5 u gotta beat top 5 guys, which jones hasnt done. What Im saying is how can he know he's ready for a title shot before facing a top 5 cuz to be honest, guys like griffin, rampage T.Silva, Evans Rua and Machida and LEAGUES above the likes of matyushenko, and hamil. Bader, ya tough guy but not in the same calibre as top 5 guys, ESPECIALLY in that jones fight,

Because Jones has never felt a leg kick b4 or anything that was the dumbest statement I've ever heard. Jones is for real a leg kick is not going to scare him out of a fight. maybe a Shogun lunging hook but not a leg kick. I don't see this fight being on the feet for long tho so unless he's kicking Bones in the legs from on his back your comment is dumb.

Has he ever faced a true bjj blackbelt? He does well against other wrestler because he has great wrestling. He will take shogun down. Shogun doesn't have great takedown defense but I guarantee shogun is training jiujitsu hard and that it's part of his gameplan to submit bones.

Really who has he fought that is a tough opponent? Brandon Vera, Ryan Bader, Matyashenko? Come on. Non of those guys have beat anyone in the top 5. I think he is good but, we haven't seen him fight anyone he wasn't expected to beat easily. Forest, rampage, machida, or even couture would have convinced me. But not his competition so far.

I am not anti-religious, but I am of the opinion that one's religious beliefs should be a private matter between you and your Maker--and certainly when the context of the conversation is MMA.

It may or may not be Jon Jones destiny to become the next LHW champion, but I have found a string of good news is just as dangerous as a string of bad news in upsetting one's inner equilibrium.

Just as Jones has a destiny, so too does Shogun--and March 19 their destinies will collide. As usual, destiny may only be accurately perceived after all the dust has settled.

I am excited for this fight, and I believe Jones has a very good chance. But I do not remember Jones being hit very hard or often in past fights--and I doubt he will get out of this fight without feeling Shogun's power.

Shogun needs to get inside Jones long reach and deliver hard strikes before Jones can take him down. Even though Bader is a very strong and heavily built fighter, despite Jones' rangy build, he seemed much stronger in their bout. But Bader seemed unable to pull the trigger on Jones--a problem Shogun will not have.

There are so many unknowns in this fight, it is hard to guess a winner. Since I like both fighters, I will be satisfied with a win by either one.

man i hope shogun wins this, if it wasnt for the layoff id say shoguns got this but if he shows up like he did againt forrest then theres no chance for him. jones has never really been hurt in a fight before and the key will be how he takes punishment, cause with shogun your gonna get hit.

Jones is dead. Just watched the O'brien fight again and that guy was outboxing Jones. Shogun by KO fo sho.

Yeah Jones finally choked him out but Gegard Mousasi did that to O'brien in like 2 seconds.

I'm not going to try and claim that Jones is more skilled or experienced than Rua, but part of what makes him so dangerous is that he has natural gifts that can't be duplicated. He is 3 inches taller than Shogun, has the longest reach in the UFC, and his body is resilient enough to cut to 205 and bounce back to 226 by the time of the fight. Not only that, but Jones fights in ways that make the best use of the gifts he has. He brings his weight to bear very well while wrestling, which let him dominate Matyushenko in his primary discipline. The way that he does attacks from odd angles using his reach allows him to dodge and strike at the same time. Maybe not the most accurate way to do it, but he's very safe while attempting his strikes. It's kinda like capoeira that works in a real fight.

These gifts matter, and Shogun is gonna need to draw on a lot of experience to overcome them.

Matt phinney deserved to be spit on because he is a lowlife/loser. Phinney is a wannabe trainer, but he is reallly a hack. Did you not see the video where Phinney is dancing around, flailing his arms like a h*mo and calling Bisping a d*ck over and over again. If anyone deserves to be fined or banned from the UFC, it's Matt the f@g Phinney and his boyfriend Jorge Rivera! I am not a Bisping fan either, but Phinney is the epitome of lowlife/loser

jones is nice and all, but his "mental ability" and visualizing isnt going to help him so much this time. He's going to get a lesson-for-life from shogun, whos coming as an underdog and going to send Bones' bones to the sky.

Jones got the improvization technoques, shogun got the real techniques.

Shogun is super strong, ask ubereem and rampage, bones will be no problem for him
