Jon Jones likely to meet Ryan Bader in early 2011; Antonio McKee expected to debut against Jacob Volkmann at UFC 125

Two of the industries most exciting prospects look set to lock horns in the near future, as Jon Jones and Ryan Bader are expected to clash very early in 2011. Bader secured the shot against Jones with a win over Little Nog at last month's UFC 119. Bader, 13-0 so far in his Mixed Martial Arts career, will face his toughest challenge yet in the young Jones, best known for his speed, power and unorthodox striking.
Both fighters are also known for their wrestling skills, but Jones has the clear advantage on his feet, where he has finished his put 8 out of his 12 opponents away with his stand up. A win for either prospect will surely result in a fast track to a title shot, and a fight against one of the top fighters in the already stacked division.
Antonio McKee vs Jacob Volkmann
Recent UFC signing Antonio McKee looks to have found his first opponent, in Jacob Volkmann. McKee is on of the most interesting signings of late. Despite being 40 years old, is 25-3-2 in his long career. His last defeat was a unanimous decision loss to Karo Parysian way back in 2003. Prior to being plucked from the little leagues, McKee had claimed to be better than the UFC's own Lightweights, calling out BJ Penn and Sean Sherk. Now, should McKee get past the very tough Volkmann, he could get his wish.
Volkmann holds a respectable record of 13-2, losing by decision to Paulo Thiago, then getting caught in a guillotine by Martin Kampmann, before his move to Lightweight. A win for either fighter could see them pushing into the top ten Lightweights, with an eye on a title shot, in a very stacked division.

Ya, i wasn't really impressed by Baders performance against Nog, I think Jones will be to much for him and as for Mckee, I think he should have gotten a better opponent like Sherk who he called out after his last fight
I definitely cannot count out Bader on this one!
I know everyone is counting out Bader already. That's a really dumb idea he's still a dangerous wrestler that can finish a fight in 1 punch.
Jones is too quick, too athletic, I really don't see Bader being able to take Jones down freely at all. He might get him down a couple times but Jones will get back up and dismantle him standing or even look to take him down.
I think the fight will stay standing, the wrestling being nullified. Bader will catch Jones with a good hook
Jon jones will take ryan bader down easily, and at will. And destroy him with ground and pound or a submission, second round.

I thought Bader was fortunate to get awarded the victory against Nog. Apart from some good damage on the ground, Bader done little else in the fight, whilst Nog found his range alot better and caused Bader more probelms than bader caused Nog. If Bader performs the same against Jones he will get destroyed.

I would rather see these two take out four of the Old Guard
before facing one another or getting a title shot.
That would clear out the Old Wood
and solidify their draw for a title shot at the same time.
Old Guard equal Randy Tito Forrest Rampage
Tito isn't worth either of their time and Dana doesnt want to put Randy up against a guy like Jones, even though I dont think it would be completely one sided I think Dana is worried about protecting guys like Randy/Chuck from being embarrassed after all they've done for him. That being said Randy might be able to beat Bader. Forrest/Rampage would be a good match up for either of them I agree.
I don't know, especially with Randy saying he wants to do more movies than fights at this point, they might use Couture as kind of an "ultimate gatekeeper" superfight. If Randy's not gonna make another run at the title, I think one of the best ways to utilize him is as a crucible for the hot up and comers.
I agree with everything apart from you putting Rampage in the Tito and Forrest category but i've been saying the same thing for months why have to prospects take each other out. Maybe the UFC don't believe Bader will be as good as Jones I mean they kept JDS and Velasquez apart sure the LHW division is more stacked but i don't why the same method hasn't been applied.

i think bader n jones shouldnt fight yet. n they should each fight a top 10 guy then if they win fight for a shot at the title IMO
