Jon Jones: Rashad Evans is the antagonist of my career, I'm in his corner vs. Davis

"I'm picking Rashad Evans. I'm in his corner. I want to fight Rashad. He's the antagonist of my career. There's no just pumping up pay per views when it comes to me and Rashad. Everything about us disliking each other is true. After we fight each other it'll all be clear and he can go have a seat somewhere." - UFC on FUEL TV: Post-Fight Show (transcribed via MMAMania.com)

For those of you who have grown wary of the unauthentic trash-talk that seems to have become all the rage as of late in the lead up to PPV fights, have no fear, Jonny "Bones" is here.

According to the UFC Light Heavyweight champ, there's no faking the disdain that he has for former friend and training partner, Rashad Evans. In fact, Jones says that his desire to meet "Suga" inside of the cage is so strong, that he'll be pulling for Evans this weekend when he squares off with Phil Davis at UFC on Fox 2.

The rivalry, which was sparked when Jones went on record stating that he would be willing to fight his then-Jackson's MMA training partner if push came to shove, has been brewing since early 2011. Though the match-up was penciled in by the promotion more than once, complete with multiple in-cage staredowns, injuries and scheduling conflicts have prevented the showdown from materializing. UFC President Dana White, however, has recently confirmed that if victorious over Davis, Evans will, in fact, be next in line to challenge for the title. So, what you think LowKick'ers? With Jones in his corner, will Evans get past "Mr. Wonderful" and finally get his shot at cracking "Bones," or will Davis further delay their "genuine" conflict?

I honestly think Jons wants nothing to do with Rashad, and he's praying that Phill comes out on top, Jons is all about mind games and he's saying all this so he could get in Rashad's head. The only way Jons could be victorious against Rashad is if he gets to his head.

I agree! No one wants to see two friends fight, because it could wind up a sleeper. When there is no beef, then the fire works have a potential of not being lit. There are many exceptions to this rule. Like Diaz and Penn; now that was a barnburner!

But the Cowboy and Nate Diaz was a perfect example of two guys fighting that despise one another.

Maybe they are online dealing with their bookies instead of trolling a forum asking for bets....acting like you really swap money with people around here.

People can dislike or hate a guy and still predict him to win. I used to hate the crap out of Brock but I knew Mir couldnt pull off another win, so I didnt blindly bet on Mir just because I hated Brock....

Hate on Jones all you want Rashad will be a 5 to 1 underdog for a reason and the fight will play out as such. After Rashad gets worked there will be more excuses for why Rashad lost and everyone will be looking for someone else to step up and challenge Jones. Even though Rashad is the best guy out there right now for him.

If Jones beats Rashad and Hendo I don't believe there will be any other light-heavyweight that can beat him.

My prediction is, no maters who wins this weekend, somehow once again, Jones and Evans will not end up fighting.

I'm normally not superstitious but that match up is cursed.

i like rashad, but i think he's reallly under jones' skin and jones is going to make an example of him if he gets the chance. since jones won the title, he has added meaning to all his wins. he didn't just win, he made us believe that those great fighters will never beat him on their best day. the statements are clear that this kid can do anything he wants in the octagon.

Why did you bother to read about it if you have no desire to read his views? You clicked on this article to read what Jones had to say because personally you had an interest. Which makes your statement somewhat hypocritical.

I hope Rashad can win this fight in spectacular fasion and get his shot at Bones. He and Hendo are the only realistic threats to the title. If Bones beats these two guys as easily as he has the other competition since winning the belt; then he may as well move up or down in weight and clean out those divisions too.

I hope for Rashad to prevail against the c o c k y Bones when and if this fight ever happens.

I am not a big fan of either fighter; but I see Evans as the lesser of two evils.
