Jon Jones and Rampage Jackson trade verbal blows via satelite at Fight Night 25

Reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson exchanged soft insults during last night's UFC Fight Night 25 satelite interview. Jones claimed that while Rampage Jackson plays the latest Call of Duty video game, he watches every single one of his fights, making sure to appear in the best possible condition on September 24th. Jackson responded with more of the spying accusation, declaring that he will destroy the Champ on next Saturday.

Here's some short highlights of what being said between Jones and Jackson:

Jon Jones

I feel like I know what I'm getting into. Quinton, I've been watching 40 or something of his fights every day. His DVD's are constantly in my laptop, so while he's playing video games I'm watching him. Hopefully, I'll show that I don't get hit a lot for a reason, and we can keep it going.

Rampage Jackson

We know he's watching me. He's watching my training, he's watching everything. I'm fully confident in this fight. I don't care what he's watching, and he can keep on watching, but on the 24th he'll be watching lights off his back.

THIS is the reason why I don't like Jones as much:

He used to say it will be a great fight and that he is honoured to fight such a legendary fighter who will bring his A-Game.....

Now he says that he is goign to destroy his opponents and they will need to find and they will need to find an excuse for losing.

    BRING THE OLD JON BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any trash talking coming from Jones has always sounded kinda awkward to me, like he doesn't really mean most of it. I can't help but think most of the fighters are encouraged to act that way publicly by Dana in order to promote the fights.

Hows the "Old Jon" supposed to come back, when he'll be in trouble with the company if he doesnt hype a fight as a champion?

That's obviously the case if you watched any of the vids Penn put up of how UFC makes people promote.

^^^^annoying isnt it a bunch of you dummies always say that about fighters who are actually humble and down to earth not just Jones. Rampage is actually one of those fighters that is ****y, arrogant, and you guys eat it up. Quit being hypocrites.

Rampage has always been arrogant and ****y and has never tried to hide it. People appreciate his honesty and sense of humor.

Jones, on the other hand, tries to hide his arrogance behind a very transparent facade of fake humility, which almost everyone except you sees right through.

The only people that appreciate his honesty and sense of humor are the same ones who are not honest with themselves.

If those same people really cared AT ALL about how fighters portray themselves they wouldnt give someone a pass because "they are honest and funny". That's hypocrisy... and that's the real facade... the ones who take the time to judge fighters but play favorites instead of judging on equal terms.

personally i dont recognize the guilt everybody is thanking about, maybe because he is defending himself too much?

i do believe there was spy because how else as page said could manager know there was old training partner of jones with page.

the fight is getting really good hyped up by this, will probably be big money for ufc with this one

So if Rampage is using an old training partner of Jon Jones, then whats the difference if Jones knows his strategy?

Is there some reason why his manager, if he got one piece of information off twitter, has to be getting all of his information from twitter? Maybe his manager was calling up people that Jones has trained with, trying to get a couple more people into the camp, and he discovered that one person was already occupied training someone else? And the person that answered the phone let it slip where it was he was training? That's not even a terribly unlikely scenario. It's not like people just vanish off the face of the planet the moment you're done with them.

It takes two to tango. Rampage has some of the best in the biz when he has a willing verbal participant. Seems like Jones is taking it way to personal, which was pretty funny in itself.

Yeah, he kind of did sound that way actually. Rampage is a veteran at mental warfare and Jones would have been better off not bringing up the incident. When it's all said and done though it really won't matter what they said to eachother once that cage door locks. I just hope it's a good fight.

and Jones didn't have to feed into it :-D . A simple "I wasn't aware of any spies and I'm about to beat down Rampage on the 24th" would have been suffice. Instead he got too wordy with a veteran of words. 2 people not to talk smack with at 205..Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans

You are both wrong. Apparently, neither of you listened to the interview because if you did, you would know that neither Jones, nor Rogan (who's "b*tch a$$" could probably choke or knock you out in under 30 seconds) brought it up first. Rampage did by saying, "We know he's watching, he's watching MY TRAINING..."

    @mousasi:

Actually, I think you're missing the point. What I was saying was that Jonny Bones had an opportunity to shut the whole spying convo down. Instead, he chose to try to turn it into a trash talking segment which he failed at miserably in my opinion. Yeah, we know Rampage made reference to it and Rogan then specifically asked the question. On another note, unless you truly know anything about marshaltheskin, you really don't know if Rogan can choke or knock him out in under 30 seconds or not. Who knows, maybe he already fought Rogan and is calling him names based on a personal experience. Anyhow, that's all for now. :-D

The way I'm thinking is maybe the whole spy thing is just to promote the fight, cause both these guys are fan favorites so the UFC can't do the simple good guy - bad guy approach without a little bit of a backstory.

Might be completely wrong though, but it's something to think about I guess

Yeah that's exactly what I think.

I don't believe its just a coincidence that Rampage mentioned that 2 days after the last PPV when Jones/Jackson is the one up next, and it just happened to be the exact time you are supposed to be hyping up the fight.

Hard not to get flustered in a verbal war with Rampage. The guy's an unstoppable force in that arena. In the cage, on the other hand... I don't see him winning this, as much as I want him to.

Of course, this was all a set up to promote the fight. Jones was awkward as usual, and Rampage was--well he was Rampage--as usual.

Rampage is using his bluster and accusations to take Jones off his game and to promote the upcoming fight.

I really think Rampage has gotten to Jones mentally.

Whether or not Jones is affected come fight time is debateable--but Rampage has done his part to knock Jones off of his pedestal.

One thing Jones needs to learn is that you cannot half-trash talk and half-respect your opponent. Jones was actually pretty funny when he spluttered in indignation to Rampage's barbs.

I agree, but anything Jones does these days, people complain about. If he only shows respect people say he puts himself on a pedestal, if he trash talks people say hes ****y, and if he half-trash talks people say it makes him look bad.

Feel kinda bad for the guy, People treat him like he's Floyd Mayweather or something...

Meanwhile, people don't even recognize how the whole situation was brought up by them being forced to hype the fight, which is the obvious reason for their actions. But people will take it how they want to take it and interpret that as w/e they want anyway...

The reason i feel Jones has an advantage on most fighter is because of his greco roman wrestling.

But in this fight i dont think he has that advantage , Rampage is a good wrestler and hes very strong.

on the stand up Jones is more dynamic but Rampage has more power.

i hope Rampage wins , but i think Jones will take this by Decision

Rampage wins this interview by unanimous decision... unfortunately, I do not see this fight going that way.

I think Jones' reach, speed and unpredicability will allow him avoid Rampages bombs, systematically pick him apart, and stop my all-time favorite LHW via TKO in the 4th round.... I really hope I'm wrong though.

I am really worried for Jones and how he is handling being a champion, not sure at all he is mentally strong enough. It is kind of weird that Rampage can almost bring him to tears like that.
