Reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones shared his thoughts about the upcoming bout with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, and his mindset coming to this bout. The encounter with Rampage will mark Jones' first UFC Light Heavyweight title defense since beating Shogun Rua at UFC 128 back on March 19th. Jon Jones is currently 13-1 in his MMA career, with 8 KO/TKO victories.

The arrogance statement was interesting. Not often you hear a pro-athlete fess up to something like that. This kid is ultra confident in his abilities and rightly so.

We don't know that yet... we won't know if it's "rightly so" until he takes one of Rampage's Boulder Rocks and doesn't go to sleep !!!

I think the hype behind him is ridicolous he has beat a bunch of cans and then a rusty Shogun, we just witness what Shogun did to Griffin when he is in shape, this guy has more talent than a lot of fighters, but he has not been tested against top contenders, at least not a their best, we will see if the hype behind him is true, remember when Machida won the belt, I remember the whole "welcome to the Machida era" and then he when 1-2 ( and to be fair it was actually 0-.3) the LHW division is so stacked that is impossible to know if someone will keep the belt.

I don´t like him anymore, I think his head is full air and he hasn´t been tested enough to be that ****y, but we will see how it goes when he fights Rampage and even if he wins he will have to face some others top contender IMO to back up his hype...

Please he may be overhyped but you need too give him the respect of a champion because thats what he is. If shogun were 2 lose to griffin i'm sure he would have came out saying he wassn't a 100% he's full of excuses.I dont get it like Jones said every great champion before him has shown the same confidence, but it's aproblem when a black man talks like he's the best to ever do it.

I wasn't going to say anything regarding the Bones vs Rampage's fight since I really like both fighters, but for you to say that Jon Jones hasn't been tested against top contenders is completely ridiculous. This kid has destroyed everyone they've put in front of him, including Shogun, and the same thing will happen to Rampage. You may not like him for your own personal reasons, however you have to give respect where it's due. Yes, Jon Jones is a beast and he's only getting better as a fighter. Shogun is in my top 4 favorite fighters of all time, but enough with the excuses already. Even if Shogun was 200%, he would have still lost to Jon Jones. And if or when they fight again, we will most likely get the same result. Like him or not, but he is not overhyped. He is just better than anyone else in the LW division.

Shogun seriously has the best fans ever.

He loses to Jones and his fans offer up excuses like " he was rusty" and " he was not 100%"...even when shogun said before and after the fight that he was 100%.

Shogun comes back and defeats a Forrest Griffin that had been out longer than Shogun was when he fought Jones(and while he wife was in labor) and the fans start chanting how great he is and how "SHOGUN is back".

Look...Jones beat shogun when he was as 100% as fighters get and he made him look bad...deal with it. Ask Shogun himself.

Why tha hell would you bring race to this topic? who the hell said this black man is full shit?.

Then second Shogun did not give a single excuse of why he lost to Jones, he is class act while this guy has the guy who was supposed to be his best friend hating him now because of his attitude.

Shogun beat Rampage so bad that Rampage is scare of fighting him again.

I don´t deny that he is he champ, that is nt in question but I would like to see him fight some oter top contenders before he gets all cokci about it. I would love to see him fight the Shogun that destroy Griffin and Machida, not the one that barely beat Coleman and that lost to Griffin...

Jones is a great fighter with a stupid attitude IMO....

Shogun made no excuses after losing to Jones. In fact, it was other people who stated that he lost because he was rusty. Shogun actually stated that he had no excuses for losing that fight. You need to give Shogun the respect of a champion because that is what he is.

Anderson Silva and Jones are the same in that they are lean & long quick reflex fighters with excellent precision and strength, the ONLY way to beat fighters like this, is to rush them, and stay inside their reach, so they can't think. The ever annoying Chael Sonnen realized that you can't let fighters like this measure their distance and THEN fire at will, he told Okami this and Okami still got lost in the right (sitting still and letting the guillotine find him).

Rampage would have to transform into a fighter that stalks Jones as fast as a hyped Shogun would... but I can't see him coming this far outside his comfort zone (Shogun was scared/hesitant when he fought Jones last, which I can understand, the next time he wont be). Rampage has styles he doesn't strive to overcome, while Jones love to adapt to everything new and forward. Jones ego is something I would LOVE to see chopped down, but this might not happen till his weight moves up to heavyweight and Dos Santos pushes those thoughts out his mind, literally.

Jon Jones is only 24 years old! Based on the fashion he defeated his opponents (slick annihilation), thus far, I'd give him another 4 years of experience and come 2015, people will debate whether Anderson Silva is really the greatest of all time. It's my prediction, and its not far fetched one. Whether we like the dude or not, you can't deny his skills and discipline compared to most.

When people say he beat up a "rusty" Shogun, they don't take into account that Bones was never even touched, let alone in trouble; he simply dominated Rua into submission. Based on the first fight, an "in-shape" Shogun heading into the sequel will most likely perform better, right? Maybe to the extent he'll slightly be more of a threat and get less dominated, because keep in mind Jones is only getting better and chances are the second fight will look familiar.

TDD and sharp Boxing... that's all you need.

Jones has out-of-this-world Wrestling and GnP, but his striking is highly overrated. His jab and looping hook are incredibly mediocre and his stamina clearly needs more work.

Don't overlook Rampage. Jackson is a former champion and he still possesses an interesting match up for Jon, even without his Killer-Instinct.

You say he has mediocre striking and stamina now, yet, he's running through the competition; just imagine how dominate he'll be when he improves those aspects...

and we thought he's dominate now.
