Jon Jones: Trust me, Rashad Evans has no chin

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones shared his thoughts about the upcoming UFC on FOX 2 main event bout between "Suga" Rashad Evans and Phil Davis. It seems like Evans is still in Jon Jones' head, after the fight between the two arch rivals has been cancelled for a second consecutive time.

MMAFighting.com
(via MMAMania.com)

"It's an interesting fight. I'll go with Rashad because of the experience factor. But Phil Davis can win more than he realizes, he has to be comfortable striking. I won't say too much because I have my own ideas on how to beat Rashad, but I don't think Rashad has a chin at all. Trust me Rashad does not have a chin. It will be a closer fight than people realize."

Jon Jones will meet this Saturday the only man to ever KO Rashad Evans, Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida, who will be looking to win back the title he lost to Mauricio Rua back at UFC 114. Jones also spoke about his somewhat controversial image, with many fans and fighters alike considering "Bones" to be arrogant and disrespectful to the legends such as Mauricio Rua and Rampage Jackson. But for Jones, it's not about being a fan-favorite:

"I only mean well, a lot of things I say I can come off as arrogant, but I only mean well. I can't control the way people perceive me, it's just who I am. My ideals are just thoughts I share, I could just keep them bottled up. I realize that not everyone is going to love you. I have changed as a fighter and I do think I am the best fighter. I won't lose to Lyoto, I won’t lost to Rashad or to Henderson or any other guy. Yeah I am a little cocky, and I think it's important to be that way. But I won't change as a person; I stay true to my friends, my family, Endicott, New York. But as Jonathan in the real world, anyone that has ever met me, they know I'll treat you with the upmost respect. Buy yeah; Jon Jones the fighter will beat you up."

Jones is currently on a five-fight winning streak inside the Octagon, with 2 Submission and 3 KO/TKO victories. The fight with Machida will be Jones' fourth this year, making him currently the most active champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

I used to be a fighter like Jon Jones, but then i took an arrow to the knee.

But seriously, i have yet to see Jones take a shot, and given Rashad has a single loss to Jones next title Challenger, i find this hard to believe

So people don't like Jones because he is ****y....so why is Muhamed Ali the most beloved fighters of all time? I do not understand why anyone hates on him. he says nothing worse than Georges ST pierre just no french accent.

At the time Ali was one of the most hated human being in the world. We love him now because of what he backed up and achieved but back then he wasnt loved at all. Ali is great because of his personality, eventhough he was coocky, he was funny as hell. Jones is just cooky

After Jones k.o. Mr. Piss Sip with elbows, that old false tooth fart from Team Queerest will be next up for his embarrassing RETIREMENT fight.

I can't wait for Rogain to ask him if its the last time we see him in the octagon while they're putting his ass on the stretcher.

People hated muhammad ali back in the day as much as they hate on anderson silva now. After silva retires he'll be seen the same way ali is now.

People hate on jones i think because he derailed the pride hype train(again) and some people are butthurt about that. I see him as the kobe bryant of MMA and similar to the lakers i don't want him to have it too easy because Jordan(silva) left

That is one stupid comment you post there "Nemesis"

Basketball is a sport where they all compete in a court.

MMA has weight classes, Jon Jones is hated because of his

personality , the humble / ****y inside of him.

I personally respect his skills as a fighter and i know for a fact that

he is better than Silva, why ? simple he is the LHW Champion

while Silva is the MW Champion simple as that.

If you're too thick to understand what an analogy is then leave it for the big boys...wherever they are.

Amazing that YOU bring up weight classes but you're also too dense to compensate for the differences in weight. "lol cain velasquez is betta dan fwankie edgurr cuz he is biggar!"

Jones is hated by you and your alts because he beat down shogun and defeated rampage, and anyone who makes the nuthug crew look bad has to deal with you people for the rest of the days of lowkick. Just wait till he beats dan henderson, then he will truly inherit silvas legacy of hate.

Ali and Sonnen's comments are made with a dose of humor. I grew up in the Ali era. It was entertaining. If Sonnen's banter didn't entertain and make me laugh then I would probably be like a lot of others here and dislike him. As it is I am a Silva fan who finds Sonnen funny and entertaining. Ali was clearly funny.

Why does humor make a difference? Ali didn't mean everything he said. He didn't think he was the prettiest man in the world. He didn't think Frazier was actually a gorilla. Jones means what he says.

ali had a different type of ****yness. he was who he was and he didnt cared if they loved him or hate him

jones on the other hand is hated mostly because people sees him as arrogant and fake. for example for this fight on the countdown he tries to play it really polite and humble saying that he can lose etc. and now he goes saying he is the best fighter and that he wont lose to lyoto, rashad, hendo, etc.

thats just him!! he tries to play a role of the good and respectful guy but in the end he is tha same guy that was really disrespectful with shogun. and shogun has always respected everyone and has been really respected by everybody to.

The only people that have rocked Rashad are Rampage, Thiago Silva and Machida. Two power punchers and an assassin. I am not saying Rashad has a good chin because we really can't know for sure but getting rocked by this list isn't a basis for saying it is weak. What is Jones talking about? Was Rashad getting rocked left and right at Jackson's?

sorry but height and reach advantage have absolutely nothing to do with winning if you dont know how to use them...just ask tim silvia, kendal grove, or stephan struve where they are at in their careers. granted height and reach advantage can be a major factor in winning if used correctly but if not then they are actually quite a hinderance, if you cant use that reach to keep your opponent out then they just get inside and dominate....so saying that his reach advantage is the only reason he is winning is just asinine if you ask me.

Tim Silvia (one of the most over-rated fighters ever IMHO) had not only a height and reach advantage on nearly every opponent he faced but usually had a good 40 lbs weight advantage as well...and still managed to lose....jon jone's only loss in the ufc has come at the hands of steve mazagatti who disqualified him for illegal strikes without even a warning when the fight should have been stopped long before it ever got to that point. He's made hall of fame level fighters (who shuold know how to get around a reach advantage btw) look like amatuers just breaking into the sport....I fail to see how just a height and reach advantage can do that.

well like i said tim silvia was incredibly over-rated and imo only was as good as he was because of his height and weight advantages...imagine what he could have done if he had the skills and athleticism that jones has.

that being said lets compare jones to anderson silva (believed by many to be the greatest fighter of all time) who you mentioned stepped up to 205 to prove he could fight at a bigger weight class....they both walk around at about 220ish...and jones only has a 2 inch height advantage....so does this mean that silva is just a bully thats scared to fight at heavyweight?...no it doesnt it means your comment is based on nothing other than your dislike for jones.

As for the reach advantage....you cant really even bring that into the equation as he would still have a healthy reach advantage over every heavyweight as well....hell stephan struve has a 9 inch height advantage over jones but still has a 1/2 inch disadvantage in reach....so really the argument you're making could still be made if jones was at heavyweight.

Jones is just a bad-ass fighter. I have got to give it to him, he whups my favorite fighters on what seems like a regular basis. I've seen him go through Shogun and Rampage this year alone. Machita is my next only hope for this year to end on a high note with a win over Jones. There is always someone better out there; and I hope Bones meets up with this guy sooner as opposed to later.

I think Jones is brave saying that Rashad has no chin when we haven't seen if he can take a shot yet either, i bet he doesn't even know himself yet. Hopefully Machida will be the man to show us, i hope he uses his awesome timing and leaps in and catches Jones on the chin with that lethal straight left knocking him spark out, at least that's how i'm hoping it will play out. Machida definately has the ability to win this fight imo if he uses his second to none timing right. Jones is under the impression that it is his destiny to be the champ for years to come so hopefully he will go in over confident and pay the ultimate price........DRAGON STYLE!!...

Jones could be making a mistake if he is looking past Lyoto Machida this Saturday. Machida is a dangerous contender who is looking to get his title back. We'll see if Jones has his head in the right place.
