Jon Jones: There's only two things I need to worry about against Rampage Jackson

Reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones shared his thoughts about the upcoming UFC 135 main event bout with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Jones will defend his title for the first time since dethroning Shogun Rua at UFC 128, with sights on proving the remaining doubters he's one of the best fighters on the planet. Speaking about Jackson's abilities as a fighter, Jones stated that he has only two things to worry about on September 24th - his opponent's left and right hand.

Jon Jones:

"It's obvious that his hands... he has a really nice left hook, right uppercut, he has a nice right hook. So, it's just his hands. He knocked out many people with his hands, and I'm prepared for that. Before that I was preparing for a guy like Shogun, who has knockout power in both hands, vicious knees, vicious high kicks, vicious low kicks. I had a lot more to be worried about. In this fight I have to worry about two things, so I feel I'm way more than prepared for those two things."

It is true that Rampage has great hands, but if JJ thinks that there aint anything else to worry about when stepping in to that cage, Rampage is going to surprise him.

To me it seems that JJ is underestimating Rampage.

Why should he care about the people who are hating on him and who are obviously not really MMA fans? He just needs to continue to beat his opponents the way he has in the past 2 years.

hes created that ''love to hate' persona since he became champ. im rooting for rampage 100% simply because i cannot stand jon jones, hes ignorant, and yeah he has every single right to be, his rise to fame has been unbelievable, but still, he hasnt cemented hmself as an MMA great yet, plus the lightheavyweight belt is cursed man.

I just think that Quiton will come in and there and not be scared. Just seems like JJ has the same effect on people that A.S. has. Fighters go in there and are waiting to see what he'll do first instead of goin by their gameplan. Rampage will go in there with no fear and look to take the fight to JJ not wait for it to come to him.

because all in all, if the fans do not like him, he is hard to promote, will be paid less, and will not be as respected as a fan favorite.... i am a huge MMA fan for 15 years, and i really dont care what he does with his career at this point.... on the other hand i follow Cruz, Aldo, GSP, Silva, and Velasquez over excessive, I really dont give a **** what Jon Jones does, Im just watching that fight to see Rampage.... Rampage is the draw to this, win or lose

For some reason everything this guy says sounds like one big lie, not because he says implausible things but the way he talks. No offense

The thing with Jones is his confidence. It's one of the biggest weapons in his arsenal. He comes across as being arrogant, but the mind game is very significant in pro sports in general. He is very talented and he knows it. I'm just wondering when he will cross that line of becoming overconfident. Kinda like Mike Tyson did when he stopped taking his opponents seriously and let himself go. I would imagine it's pretty hard for a such a young guy to stay humble when his butt is being kissed on a regular basis. I hope Rampage is training as hard as he claims he is and i hope Jones is not looking past him.

I don't see JJ going for any armbars or triangles from the bottom, so I'd say chances of a slam attempt will be very minimal.

Machida went for an armbar from the mount, not the bottom, and almost got slammed by Rampage.

@Newgate: As much as it pains me to say it I believe you are correct this guy is as fake as a nevada smile, talent aside. He is confident but I believe we are going to see the 'killer' rampage and one punch will but doubt in Jones mind. From a pure 'betting' standpoint Jones does seem to have all the tools required to really stop rampage, but I don't feel I can call this either way, one thing is for sure it will be good!

Good interview and responses. I think this fight will be a war! Rampage poses more of a threat than Shogun did that night and I noticed how Jones got winded in that fight. Not saying this will be an ongoing trend, but it's something to think about. Rampage at his best has great cardio and will fight through a lot of stuff. However, IF Jones runs through Rampage the way he has run through everyone else I think it will be fair to say he may be on the verge of an Anderson Silva type run. Only IF because we really don't know for sure.

Slams? Rampage can't use his slams anymore, they don't work in the modern sport, people are too good and see them coming and let go of position.

I do not understand the hate toward Jones, and this interview is the perfect example of what i don't get! All of you hipster MMA fanboys who are hating on Jones are the same idiots who now overrate Fedor, the same dummies who think GSP is boring, the same fools who should probably investigate other sports because none of you fickle retards seem to like Mixed Martial Arts very much. The dude is respectful, polite, throws a few jabs out here and there but what the ****?? Why is someone like Rampage or Hashad able to run this mouth saying whatever hateful rude nonsense their pea-sized brains can come up with on the spot?

Jones is a far superior fighter in every way but straight-up punches and the result that none of you haters want to see is just the one that is going to be rammed down your throats that night. Bones is going to come in and ninja Rampage until he's a crumpled mess on the floor. Fights like this kind of make me wish the UFC used a ring because I would love to see Rampage-flops-out-of-the-ropes-snoring 2.0

Jackson does have more of a punchers chance then 95% of everyone in the UFC, that being said, I still don't believe this is a fight that he can win.

I agree, Jones is better than Rampage. GSP however is a great athlete and I like watching him but he has little balls. He is afraid to commit to a finish even when his fight is as lopsided as it can get. He is not a real fighter at heart and is more about athleticism. He is an MMA champion for sure but he is less than devastating and seems to be coming down with Brock syndrome(scared of a good fight).

    Jones is more technical

    Rampage has heavier hands

    Jones > Rampage on ground

    Rampage isn't submitting anyone

    Jones cardio > Jacksons

Jones will win this within 3 rounds with more sticking and moving technical strikes. Jackson will be gassed halfway through the second and will be picked apart. 2nd round will end with Jones ground and pounding and will continue into the 3rd.

I love Rampage; however, one dimensional fighters are a thing of the past. The sport evolves more every event.

I belive hes underestimating Rampage look at the takedown defense in the Matt Hammil fight...Shogun doesn't have that great of takedown defence its gonna suprise Jones and once its toe to toe Jones is gonna be forced to stand.I don't buy Jones thinking.Rampage is just as dangerous on the feet as Shogun just much more powerful.

When people say that Rampage cant catch JJ because he is slower fighter, they should remember Rampage vs Machida fight.

Rampage aint one-dimensional fighter. He just f**ks people up in the stand-up so there aint no need to go to the ground.

Rampage is coming in motivated and ready. Rampage by 2nd round KO/TKO
