Jon Jones: Rampage Jackson prepared me for Rashad Evans' trash talk
Posted on October 3, 2011, 08:19 AM by Anton GurevichSpeaking to MMAWeekly.com, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones discussed the psychological warfare expected prior to encounter with the former best friend Rashad Evans, claiming he's more than ready for any tricks Rashad Evans brings to the table. According to Jones, Quinton Jackson's pre-fight trash talk prepared him for Rashad Evans, whose attendance to Psychology classes won't make any difference:
“Even on a marketing standpoint, me and Rampage do all this selling fights and then Rashad comes in and markets himself right in the middle of my big day. I don’t like you, you don’t like me, stay off my special night. Now all the Endicott (N.Y.) kids are starting to figure, ‘oh, who’s Rashad Evans? It’s the guy that shows up at every Jon “Bones” Jones fight. He’s just flappin’ his gums and talking to himself to try and convince himself that he’s ready and that he has this and he has that over me. Evans went to school for psychology. I think I’m gonna prove in this fight that my psychology is together as well. I’ll be able to exploit lots of things in Rashad Evans. Rampage just prepared me for Rashad.”
Jones also added that he's very interested to see what happens when he goes "turbo" on Rashad Evans, who is according to Jones, is delusional for believing he has "his number".
Following the triumph over Quinton Jackson, Jon Jones improved his MMA record to 14-1 with a total of 12 finishes. Despite being younger in the sport, Jon Jones has a tremendous 4 to 1 recent activity advantage over Evans in light of the fact that "Suga" was absent between UFC 114 (victory over Rampage) and UFC 133 (Tito Ortiz fight).

Bulls*t.....I'm pretty sure Dana didn't want Chuck in there against Rich at UFC 115, but dammit if Bruce wasn't jumping while saying "Iceman".
Weaks fuel my power......getting strong now.
@TJbad13
every time I see your name on this it reminds me of TJ Laser from Robocop
What does he mean by going "turbo?"
The whole "ruin my special" night seemed out of character. Has Rashad really gotten to Jones that much? Or maybe that was the start of the mind games...
I suspect by going "turbo", Jones is referring to the level he fights at in the octagon, as opposed to the sparring Rashad has experieinced.
"Special night" is a phrase best reserved for young ladies going to the senior prom or their wedding night. Not for grown men who make a living beating the tar out of other grown men. Just sayin...
funny + a million exactly what I was thinking.. lol
He really acts as if he thinks people can just enter the ring. Did Shogun ruin his night also when he stepped in? Did he consider that stealing his spotlight. He knows Dana allows it and the UFC asks for it. Fans need to be "lead" visually into the fights ahead.
UFC managements are the one sending Rashad inside the octagon to hype this fight between Bones vs Rashad... So I don't know why Bones is blaming Rashad about ruining his special moment twice. That said, this will be one awesome fight...I seriously think Rashad is the only key right now to be beat Bones.. And that's only because of Rahad wrestling, speed, and power... Sugah has great gameplan for his fights... But Bones is one awesome fighter.. Bones skills are scary... I have it 60/ 40... Bones wining..
all i want to see is someone really push bones all the way to the limit, and if he can dig deep to prove how good i think he actually is then i have nothing more to say on the guy. as frankly, there is only phil davis, and rashad that i see who stand any legit chance.
suga needs to push the pace, and make bones worry. as no one has even got close to taking him out of his comfort zone.
I'm wondering if Greg Jackson is gonna make a gameplan to beat Rashad. He said he won't but things have changed since...
this guy loves to fight. he puts the art in martial arts. its going to take a lot more than intimidation to beat him. i think leg kicks would do better, something rampage and shogun didn't do enough of. if you try to box him like they did, you better have long arms or he's gonna nick diaz your ass. i think machida is the one who has the best chance cause he's just as smart, and he will stick to a gameplan. you have to start with leg kicks though. after that, good luck,
"Special night"? What are you, 12? Grow up.
