Jon Jones: I'm sorry I'm coming across as cocky

Jon Jones was 6-0 when he first stepped into the Octagon, defeating Andre Gusmao via unanimous decision at UFC 87. From there he went on to defeat Stephan Bonnar, again securing a unanimous decision. After that, none of his fights would go the distance and his only loss would be a disqualification for delivering 12 to 6 elbows to Matt Hamill in their December 2009 match up.
Early in his run with the UFC, Jones was looked upon as a humble fighter, someone with great talent, but without a sense of braggadocio to him. That opinion of Jones changed quickly and fans were calling the young fighter, cocky and overconfident.
That talk didn’t end after he captured the UFC light heavyweight title from Mauricio Rua. It didn’t end when he choked out Quinton Jackson and it may have even increased a bit when he dropped an unconscious Lyoto Machida to the ground at UFC 140. Through it all one thing remained constant, Jones didn’t see himself as a cocky or arrogant person.
“My road wasn't easy, by any means. That's why when people call me cocky, it's, like, the biggest blow I can get. It's like, 'It's not me! I'm sorry I'm coming across that way.' Its funny how guys like you call jones ****y than you post a pic of yourself acting like a ****y bad*ss. Flipping off the camera and what not. Hey here's an idea dont let your emotions get in the way of being an MMA fan, look at sonnen, he talks more trash than any other fighter and still has fans, why? because he doesn't have much reason for people to be jealous of him. Jones has many reasons for people to be jealous and that is why he is so hated. Whatever, haters gone hate, Ima keep watching bones cement his top spot among the goats of mma, he is going set a new standard for goat...
honestly, i never see this "****y" attitude. in other fighters , yes, but in jones, i see a young kid, who is excited to be where he is at, and in the spotlight, does come across as confident, as all fighters should, but never heard a single arrogant comment from him. he always seems humble, and states his opinion on the situation, without ****iness, just how it is and what he thinks he needs to do to continue on a successful path. haters will see what they want, but an unbiased perspective will show truth.
I don't get it either. If anything, it makes me think of him as more honest than other fighters. Too many people have the same canned responses, seemingly having no opinions of how they match up with their opponents or how they feel they're doing in their fights. Jon has accomplished more in his short career than most athletes will in a lifetime. He has a right to be proud of himself.
Whereas many people who have accomplished what he has would turn into an Ali (or Sonnen) with talk about how they're the "greatest", Jones seems fairly down to earth about the whole thing. He seems to know, despite never having tasted a true loss in the octagon, that he could lose tomorrow and be yesterday's news. It's rare to find that kind of real-world wisdom combined with the confidence and ability he possesses. In time, success may make him arrogant and ****y, but I don't think it's happened yet.
I agree I think alot of ppl think he act to humble kinda fake like he goes out of his way to be the good guy or tries to hard to be that guy

How can some people call Jones ****y , when he is arguably the best (or second best )pound4pound MMA figher in the world?
This guy is super confident, super talanted and is on top of the world right now.
When you are the best,you are entitled to some slack on things you say in the interviews imo.
people will hate you for your qualities, not for your weakness.
The guys just extremely confident in himself. We're yet to hear this guy talk thrash or rip an opponent.

there were a few moments, like signing autographs as champion before beating shogun and how he never shuts up about 'i just feel its my time, for a long time'

jones isnt my favourite fighter but how can u just call him ****y for being good wait amazing whats he meant to do lose on purpose truthly i thought machida was going to beat him after the 1st round but i was wrong so i dont no whats wrong with all the haters
