The last time Jon Fitch stepped into the Octgaon he fought BJ Penn to a three round draw. That fight took place at UFC 127 in February of this year. The fighters were then booked for a rematch for July 2nd at UFC 132. However, as was the case for a number of fights this summer, injury prevented the rematch from taking place.

Fitch was forced to undergo shoulder surgery in early May to repair damage to his right shoulder. Following the surgery, Fitch was expected to be out of action for four to six months.

On Tuesday, Fitch announced via twitter, "I'm back! Dr. Kavitne gave me the OK to fight."

When he does return to the cage, Fitch’s first fight will not be against Penn. Penn has been booked for a October bout against Carlos Condit at UFC 137. According to MMAJunkie.com, a possible opponent for Fitch would be Johny Hendricks at UFC 139. UFC 139 will be headlined by a Heavyweight Title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos. The fight card is booked for November 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.

OOOOO I like the Fitch vs McDonald fight. Great match up and would really show where both fighters are at.

I feel bad for whoever is fighting Fitch next - He will going out to make a statement. Fitch is pretty cool actually from what Ive seen. Just a regular dude that likes to work out, eat organic, kick ass, play video games, and bang a hot asian chick on the regular

Singelhandedly taking the concept of 'boring fights' to a whole new level has to count for something right?

ok people are online complaining that fitch doesn't get a title shot.here is how we solve this. both fitch and koscheck are coming off injuries.ufc should force them to fight if either of them want to be a title contender they will have to fight eventually.as of right now they both don't have any opponents so it makes sense
