Jon "Bones" Jones talks about his hand injury, "Rampage" Jackson, moving to Heavyweight and much more

Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones, who was in Washington DC as part of a charity appearance, sits down with Luke Thomas of SBNation.com to discusses an array of topics, including his hand injury, Jackson's MMA, his upcoming title defense against "Rampage" Jackson, moving up to Heavyweight, and much more. Jones says that his hand is still in the process of being rehabbed, but is "doing fine." Speaking on "Rampage," the champ acknowledges the threat the veteran represents inside the octagon, but insists he'll be ready for him on fight night.
On his hand injury: Today my hand is doing fine, it's doing great. My grip isn't as tight as it used to be, but good thing I use my left hand primarily. My punching power in both hands are still pretty much the same, so I'm excited. I think that it's the transition I'm in now. I've been doing some physical therapy work and it takes time, so hopefully my hand doesn't get worse throughout this training camp.
On Jackson's MMA: Greg Jackson's program is one of the number one programs in the world for a reason. It has the best chemistry. It has the best staff. We have the best attitudes and I'm happy to be a part of it. We lost Rashad Evans but we're still growing strong.
On "Rampage" Jackson: Rampage is a great combatant. He's a respectable name. He's knocked out some of the best people in the sport. So it's a great opportunity for me to elevate and that's what wakes me up in the morning (...) He's in a great spot. He's already achieved a level of success where he should be comfortable with living, but he's still the same guy. It only takes one punch to end a fight and this guy is known to have some of the most extreme punching power in our sport's history, so obviously I have to train and have my boxing defenses up, my mixed martial arts skills up, and I'll be ready for him.

good interview, hope jon moves to hw in the next few years, also the fight with rampage should be sick.. piss on the ny law makers for denying legalization of mma in ny.
I've always seen Jones moving up to HW in the next few years.. Its pretty obvious that his metabolism will start to slow and cutting to 205 will start to become more taxing over time.. Jones will likely be a "next generation Overeem" in that regard, except with a potentially FAR greater skill set.
Need HW chin and HW power to fight at HW!
When has Jones demonstrated a lack of HW chin/power? We won't know until he tries.. I see him as a major threat to the entire division, especially with more reach than Skyscraper Struve.
Good Interview and smart guy but I would be pissed if my business partner and "friend" would say he would put money on me losing that's jacked up.
Lol, Jones seems to be good to his friends, doesn't he?
the guys a bitch no respect for any of his friends. He is such a two faced prick
He's just telling the truth about how he feels. I guess you would rather him lie and say he thinks Faber will win because he's friends or partners with Faber. Well, some people still see honesty as a virtue. Obviously you're not one of them.
Since you obviously would lie if you were in the same situation, you're the two faced prick.
so if one of ur friends was fighting you would tell them you think they will lose? if you would then you're a shity friend... and hes not even telling urijah to his face, hes doing it through media which is even worst.
awww that grip isn't what it used to be.. poor guy! atleast he's got his other hand to jack off with or maybe Urija faber is attending to his needs..
But in all seriousness, no need to keep talkin about that fake injury no more, he already succesfully ducked Mr Evans.
What was that interviewer talking about when he said that Jones has never faced someone that "really hurts you?"
Does he know who Shogun is?
If this was Nick Diaz we would have gotten an honest response: That's a stupid question.
Its Luke Thomas.. What he said was that it was something people like to bring up when questioning him. Which not only is it true, but its a fair question. No one has been able to tag him yet. Of course, that is a good thing tho. Good for him really... But for all we know, he has a glass chin and will crumple the first time he gets hit square on the jaw. I'm not saying that its likely or that you and I, or anyone else for that matter, should expect that type of outcome, but its a fair question imo.
Also, he is the Tom Brady of MMA.
He is great at what he does, on a great team, says all the right things, and has a rather boring personality.
i can never get more than 30 seconds into any of his interviews without turning it off. i cant quite figure out why but i cant stand jones. i hope rampage gets a maraculouse KO
