Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz set for UFC on FOX 3 in May

UFC President Dana White has officially confirmed on Twitter that Jim Miller's next fight will take place on May 5th, against no other than Nate Diaz. The fight will be featured on the main card of UFC on FOX 3, which will take place at the IZOD Center, the very same arena that hosted Fedor Emelianenko's fight with Antonio Silva, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Diaz vs. Miller could easily serve as the #1 contender fight in the UFC Lightweight division, since both fighters are fresh off impressive victories inside the Octagon. Nate Diaz made a statement with a convincing performance against Donald Cerrone (via Unanimous Decision) back at UFC 141, while Jim Miller choked out Melvin Guillard at last weekend's UFC on FX 1.

Nate Diaz is currently on a two-fight winning streak in the lightweight division, but holds an overall record of 5-3 as UFC 155'er. Miller's streak inside the Octagon is far more impressive, New Jersey-native is 9-2 in the UFC Lightweight division, losing only to Gray Maynard and Ben Henderson, both via Decision.

In fact, Jim Miller has never been finished in his MMA career. Miller' professional MMA record stands at 21-3, his only losses are against UFC Lightweight title challenger (as previously mentioned), and the reigning champion Frankie "The Answer" Edgar, all via decision.

Another fight that has been added to UFC on FOX 3 is John Dodson (TUF 14 Winner) vs. Darren Uyenoyama, which will take place in the brand new UFC Flyweight division.

Fantastic match up, serious title implications.

I would have to take Diaz at a push, i think they cancel each other out on the ground, but Nate has the edge on the feet.

    Crazy fight!

I've got Nate too, I can't see Nate making the same mistakes Melvin did.

I don't see why everybody is taking Nate over Miller, I'm actually very surprised. As great as Nate has done recently he has been fighting people tailored for him (mayeb not Cerrone). The last person he bet who had wrestling was Guillard but he has bad Sub D, where Miller's is amazing.

Miller has some of the best wrestling and Jits at LW, Diaz has amazing Jits but HORRIBLE wrestling. Everytime Diaz fights a wrestler who can defend himself on the ground, he gets destroyed. I like Nate but I think he has nothing for Miller here unless for some reason Miller wants to just stand and bang for 3 rounds.

    Miller via. Dec.

I wonder where Melvin got the misinformation that his fight with Miller was a title-eliminator.

Prediction Miller via split decision... Diaz does more damage on the stand up Miller shows heart and survives takes him down couple times and ends on top every round except third which i believe Diaz takes 10-8 after the fight i think Diaz won 29-27 but on the scorecards he loses two judges scoring 29-28 29-28 for Miller and one for 30-27 Diaz probably Doc Hamilton. FOTN Diaz gets also a win bonus and says Diaz won

Nate will whoop Miller where ever the fight goes. It will be worse for Miller if the fight stays on their feet. Even if the fight goes to the mat Nate BJJ skills > Jim Miller... Only advantage Miller has over Nate is his wrestling.. Yet Nate's boxing, BJJ, and his cardio will be just to much for Miller... Cowboy Cerrone had a better chance on beating Nate Diaz... And yet he got destroyed...Donald Cerrone would whoop Jim Miller also... Big time... You can like it, or you can weak it... War Nate Diaz.

Nate Diaz will win this fight badly. It makes sense tho. They are both in that title range, 2 more wins each and they gotta get that shot. Diaz does have the advantage everywhere.

They need to make this the headlining fight so it's 5 rounds. Huge fan of both guys but I think Nate will "whoop his ass"

I've got to admit I used to hate the Diaz brothers but they've both really proven themselves and are now in my top 10 favourite fighters! Cudos to them for being real fighters when so many just lay n pray.

They both put on a great show and understand the value of great cardio. Maybe not the sharpest pair of tool(s) in the shed but they always come to fight and seem to be good people (just not that articulate....yet)

My pick: Nate via TKO 3rd round.

Miller won't be subbing Diaz like he did to Guillard, and his stand up is so-so. Edge goes to Diaz on the feet so I see him getting the decision.

i think that miller biggest advantage is wrestling and also physical strength two traits that diaz has had serious problems with in the past although i would say diaz has improved quite a bit recently and has a major advantage on the feet this one is very hard to call plus miller fought olivliera who is a very dangerous bjj guy and is also has a very similar body shape to diaz's im not sure who wins this all im certain of is joe silva does one hell of a job
